Florida A&M University Music Students' Petition
This petition is for all current music students, who attend Florida A&M University, whether their specific majors are Music Industry, Education, Voice, Instrumental, Jazz Studies, Composition, etc. There have been alot of raised concerns about some simple technological advancements not being made over last few years. Although the Music Dept. is starting to flourish once again, there are a few small things that we, the students would benefit from greatly if we have access to them. The most important subject involves the inability to be able to practice or use our facilities for rehearsals after school hours and on weekends. As musicians, we all know that a day where we are not working on our craft is another step back from where we desire to go. But, without access to the Music building and Bandroom after hours, it hinders us more than if we had the option to practice whenever possible. This petition is being documented for the students and faculty's opportunity to have access cards for the Foster-Tanner Music building and Band room. This would provide students with access to the facility as a whole and also specific rooms and equipment for practice. One of those rooms would be the computer lab, for those who need access to expensive music software for projects they are working on. The access card system has already proved to be successful for other Florida A&M University departments, and Music Department would greatly appreciate the opportunity to implement the system in our facilities for the upcoming Fall 2015 semester.
