As an Asheville resident, I hate to see our iconic structures being turned into hotels instead of buildings that diversify the local economy. The building is old and needs work, but is a hotel the only way to raise enough money to restore its glory?

We're out of balance. Tourists over locals. Profit over people. This is blatant gentrification and the perfect case study of AVL's struggle to embrace change while staying true to the people (locals) that make this city what it is. There are too many smart people and solutions in this town to accept a boutique hotel as the only way to save this building. Push for food & beverage tax, bonds, and access to TDA funds to protect the small businesses in this building and start to tip this imbalance back to the workers and families of Asheville.

The infra structure is not up to the over extended needs of the current batch of too many hotels. the Recent plague of Brown water is a disgustng example of crumbling infrastructure. When all the charm of Asheville's historic architecture is destroyed The real Asheville will no longer exist. This current trend of too much is not enough, will only serve to fill the pockets of Greedy destructive builders.

Stop selling Asheville to out of town interests for temporary visitors.

There are other better uses. There should be historical tax credits and funding to do the upgrades.
I own a business on Wall st and don’t want Wall st to become some hotels back ally. While equally appalled at the public space grab by the developer. This includes the extend the side walks to gain public space so we can use it for our outdoor seating at our restaurant. Just a few issues.
Also the 1/2 million dollar loss to the parking fund over 20 years
