Between the number of hotels in Asheville and the AirB&Bs, there are more than enough places for tourists tonstay. Let's focus on better housing for residents.

I've lived here almost 10years, and am an 7th generation North Carolinian. More and more I see the wealthy choose $$ over people. Asheville needs to stand up and say that the people that live here matter and the tourists aren't the only valuable population here. No more hotels, more affordable housing.

No more hotels. Attract real businesses or help local business grow. This city should have something for the people who pay double property tax other than brown water and potholes.

This building should not be turned into hotel. I’ve been to Asheville many times. Love the downtown, but noticed that there’re too many hotels and it’s traffic is getting worst there. 3 or 4 years ago, it was a calm place to go visit downtown: walking etc.. now, it’s overcrowded with hotels. Should have moratoriums on this.

I have concerns about the converting of this historic structure and structure of Wall Street and the precedent that will set. I also dislike the idea of many local businesses losing their space and the loss of parking. It still seems the hotel industry is not benefiting the locals.

The town is for the people, not the profiteers. Local businesses are essential for an equitable town with decent quality of life. The more you sell out to the highest bidder, the faster we go to hell in a hand basket.

I vote to petition this. I feel strongly for the hearts of the local entrepreneurs and small-business owners that have put their heart and soul into their businesses and investments. Not only that but for another hotel in Asheville across the street from several others would not make any sense due to too the lack of parking as it is with the frustration to relax coming to downtown and finding parking.
I have to say that it is not worth doing any kind of transition into making a hotel. I believe there are many other options and opportunities to make sure that The building maintains and in the end is preserved. In the many years this building has been functioning business owners and entrepreneurs
Have continued to put their heart and soul into their passions and this building has been able to make that happen for many individual success plans. Taking this away Would be taking away apart of are
Authenticity of our city and what it’s known for. I hope you have it in your heart to reconsider other options to maintain this historic building and opportunity of entrepreneurship to maintain as it has for many years.
Any council member who votes for this should carry this shame to their grave. Don't be remembered for being responsible for selling Asheville's history, character, and charm to the highest paying hotelier.

Progress for downtown Asheville involves preserving small independent businesses, live/work environments, its historic character and accessibility and parking for all residents of Asheville as well as visitors. Plans to make the Flatiron Building a hotel ignore the need for existing parking to serve the larger Asheville area, many of whose residents despair of coming downtown due to difficulty parking. These plans also displace dozens of small independent businesses which provide the downtown its charm and soul, not to mention its popularity.
The plans serve only the hotel, not Asheville's larger good and prospects for continued vitality. I am a new resident in an old building in downtown Asheville and support a healthy mix of respectful growth in the commercial, residential and tourist dimensions. The Flatiron Building proposal is not healthy for Atlanta's long term prosperity, and is ill-advised.
