We love our tourists but we need to love our residents more. My greatest concern, other than ruining a historic structure is too much concrete in Asheville. We need more trees planted, we're creating a warmer temp in downtown due to all the new hotels/concrete taking over. It's too much money to Corporate folks rather than Ashevillians. Save the structure and save the businesses! Please.

Please, we have more than enough hotels already. In 5 or 10 years most will be on shaky operational ground. I've seen this happen elsewhere (Richmond VA in the early 1980s, for example). The Flatiron is a unique historic structure. Preserve it, don't bastardize it.

We don’t need a building currently serving locals to be converted into a building serving mainly tourists. Flat iron now supports locals by housing their businesses and also employs locals who work or own companies there. Not worth it for very few locals to get a low-paying job while displacing local residents who will need to find new office space.

Shame on those who can but will not lead. Of course save this historic piece of AVL but not with any veiled lie that giving way to one more hotel developer will be a fix. Will this be yet another nail in the coffin holding the remains of the once visionary soul of Asheville?

Preserve local history and business in this iconic building. There are plenty of hotels in this city, and the traffic and parking issues associated with this proposal are horrendous!
