If Asheville could please have some dignity in its city, keep this building historic and for the people of Asheville. The ones who work here, live here and spread love here. We work for all the tourists who come to this city, let this gem be remain what it is, beautiful. Perhaps housing for the folk who work in this tourist town would be a wonderful idea. Give back to the ones who keep Asheville funky and magical. NO MORE HOTELS.

I don't believe the building can be turned into a hotel and still maintain the character of the building. I also don't think there should be any more hotels allowed into downtown. We need to maintain spaces for small local businesses. Asheville is slowly loosing its character.

Keep the flat iron. You will regret losing your history. And...part of what makes Asheville such a destination is that our towns history shows in the downtown area. Happy accident that no one had the money to tear down buildings and build new when the great depression hit. We actually have a real beautiful downtown that reflects a time before we gave up on beauty and traded out for modern ammenaties in big boxes.

Gah! Asheville has TOO MANY hotels already. The very existence and current use of the Flatiron Building, is why tourists come to Asheville in the first place.

Every time I come see family and visit the area parking is always and issue. Building a hotel and taking away parking spots I don’t believe is a good move at all for local business

It is one of the few buildings left with Asheville history and small businesses can afford, we have too many hotels as it is....one of few places I'm proud to show to my friends that visit

The Flatiron should be preserved and maintained as working space for the working people of this town. As Asheville continues to grow, the number of hotels increases exponentially, offering little variety in the job market and little reason for Asheville residents to stay in a town where they are unable to support themselves. Varied employment opportunities offer more flexibility and earning potential, and a brighter future for our city. We don't need another hotel.

Having come back from death once, our downtown is vital & beautiful however struggling with the weight of too many hotels already. More motels will lead to another death of downtown. Council Members, please remember that you are City Council serving residents, not Hotel Council serving hotel owners. Please stop this insane overbuild of hotels now & preserve our town for those of us who live here!
