The Flat Iron Building does NOT need to become another hotel. We do not need another hotel that will take up parking spaces that locals would like to use to support local businesses. Local hotels and restaurants are already facing a labor shortage - it is too expensive for service workers to live in town, there is nowhere for them to park, and locals find it hard to support these businesses as we can't park or walk on our crowded and crumbling streets, or get a table at our favorite restaurants. PLEASE don't evict the hardworking locals who call the Flat Iron home and turn it into yet another unnecessary hotel.

Asheville needs to learn how to grow without displacing residents. This is despicable. Parking is the worst part of going downtown these days, adding another hotel with hundreds of visitors and their cars, it will only get worse. This is an irresponsible move looking to make money instead of preserve a historical area of Asheville.

Asheville has continued to seek growth when it has grown passed capacity. We are 4th in the nation now on a current statistical list of cities to steer clear of. Traffic issues, potholes, continued delays in road construction, increase in murder and other high risk crime, graffiti, problems within the city counsel and the Asheville Police Department...the list goes on and on. Another hotel is the last thing we need for Asheville. We need a wake up call to reality. We Ashevillian natives want our home back. Leave what is still working alone. Let these working people keep their offices.

NO! I’m a native Ashevillian and have watched my beautiful city being razed for profit. But not profit for the people but profit for outsiders. WE MUST DEMAND THIS BE VOTED DOWN!

As a downtown business owner I beg you to stop the insane hotel development. Parking is extremely difficult for our locals and we rely on locals for our business to survive.

As an Asheville native I am heartbroken at the direction city council has taken our beautiful town. Please say no to yet another hotel and preserve our beautiful, historic downtown architecture for small business and keeping our money in OUR community.

I completely oppose the development of this historic building into yet another (unnecessary) hotel in Asheville. And I fully support keeping the 70 plus small businesses that reside there.
This is a moment in Asheville's history that is pivotal. This development must be stopped!

Asheville has lost every shred of respect for its local and native population. All you people care about is more more more money. And where are all these people going to park?! The roads are falling apart, the water is brown, fix the city!

We do not need more hotels downtown. We need affordable apartments. I work downtown and have to drive 35 minutes to work for affordable living. Whereas 10 years ago I could afford a downtown apartment.

As a life long resident of Asheville I am strongly against this happening to one of my favorite landmarks in Asheville. It saddens me that it’s even being considered.

Please leave a little bit of Asheville. Let this lovely old building remain.
