I don't believe making this building into a hotel is the ONLY way to save it as the developers insist. Mixed use is a wiser alternative.

My wife and I have a house in Asheville and live half of the year there...please, don't convert this landmark in another luxurious hotel!

Local business should be nurtured. We don’t need more hotels. Loosen the law on vrbo’s and the like to keep the money local. If you push locals away you will not retain the uniqueness of the city in turn less people will want to come over time and all these hotels will be useless.

With over 10,000 hotel rooms in the Asheville area already in action or in the works, our city does not need another hotel. If the owner of this historic building cannot afford to renovate the inside of the building on his own, he can sell it to somebody who can and who does not see a hotel as the only viable use for this building. The city is not responsible for the owner's financial issues, we do not need another hotel, and the logistics of everything in this location are terrible, from guest parking to dropping off suitcases or hotel supplies. Please vote NO city council - it's the only sensible decision.

Property owners and developers will keep building hotels and nothing else if City Council keeps approving them. Get a handle on this before it's too late!

PLEASE do not just keep building random hotels and tearing down all of the beautiful buildings that make Asheville unique. If more and more buildings get torn down and hotels get put up, people won’t wanna come here anymore anyways and we’ll look just like Charlotte or Greenville or all of the other college towns.

There are already enough hotels in the area. Keep the Flat Iron historical and leave the good tenants where they are.

Businesses in the flat iron building make downtown so much more than just a tourist spot. Tourists love seeing "people at work" in downtown asheville, if a visitor comes to downtown and only sees other visitors, what pleasure does that derive? it's not sustainable to lose this much character. Charge higher rent and get fancy businesses in there. Whatever you do, don't mess with the current restaurant setup below. That combination is priceless.
We all know that this boon will have a cap. I lived in both Portland and Austin during 2000-10 and I saw them begin to settle after 10 years of publicity. Austin only continues to grow because of it's economy, which we don't have in asheville.

Please save a little tiny bit of downtown for people that live here. Our roads are crowded and are the worst in the state. Sidewalks are in bad shape or nonexistent.
My tax money is being spent how exactly? Tourist upkeep?

This building is so unique and special to downtown Asheville. We really don't any more hotels that displace residents and drive up the cost of living for life-long residents.
