You do not take a historic building and gut it for corporate profit that benefits nothing, and no one, in Asheville. It's a museum unto itself.
There is no *parking* for this proposed hotel. I had breakfast with my kids this past Sunday a half block from there, Pack and Wall st parking garages were full at 10AM. I didn't try Rankin, instead parked in Montford and walked in. Now toss a hotel into that off-peak tourist season dynamic. It's stupid.

Asheville is supposed to be a “ Small Business Town” so why on earth would anyone vote to turn this lovely business into “one more hotel”?? Downtown Asheville is not the home of “ Hotel City” it is where small business owners call their livelihoods “Home”!

The hotel takeover of downtown is out of control and disrupting the opportunity for other businesses to flourish. Forcing these businesses out of their homes and into the market that is already aggressively difficult for small businesses to survive in is criminal. Have some pride in your city and support those who live here.

Such a wonderful historic building with a rich history of small businesses and artists. If the owner can’t afford to keep it and fix it, he can sell it! We don’t need more hotels! When does the quality of life of citizens start to matter more than new hotels???
