Please keep our beach safe and don’t make our lifeguard area smaller and don’t lower the number of lifeguards. This is a great way of teaching our youth responsibilities

The presence of a strong lifeguard team every Summer in Flagler Beach is essential and should not even be considered to be decreased. I would argue for strengthening of the program and Jr Lifeguard program.

God forbid someone is drowning or carried away by a rip current or needed CPR and it could have been prevented if there was a lifeguard there. We should never cut back on safety. That’s like cutting back police officers and military !

Prior to 2018 when FB first cut the Lifeguard program by $100,000, coverage was from 10th N to 10th S which is approximately one mile of beach. Under the current proposal to reduce towers there is less than 1/2 mile of beach with more than 300 feet taken up by fishermen and surfers. After two long years of social distancing, FB City Officials are asking beach visitors to crowd into an area of less than 2300 feet. (COVID is officially over)

We need to increase our support of lifeguards. Increase their pay. Increase their benefits. They are essential workers and lifelines to those who need them.
