It's not only ideal to have a "safe" environment to drop off and pick up our children, it is a
MUST. This is not the case at Seitz Elementary in Fort Riley, KS. The parking lot is not even completely finished. The parents walk on gravel, people park on the grass, kids run in front and behind cars because the school is so unorganized in their planning. We have reached out to the principal and was told it was not the school's problem, and that it was the garrison commander. The garrison commander has not returned any phone calls. There is no snow right now, so there hasn't been any accidents...YET. Let's work together as a community to bring change to this parking lot mayhem!
It would be nice if parents wanting to just drop off kids coild utalize the circle in the back and those wanting/needing to walk their child could use the parkinglot. The principle is telling parents to park in the Scout Hut across from the school and walk over. This isn't stopping children from being in freezing temperatures and those families with small children. Parents have resorted to dropping kids off at intersections to avoid the parking lot issues. Personally I have seen parents and children almost struck by cars who are speeding in the lot or can't see around parked vehicles. The lot was ilconstructed and will even be more dangerous once we get snow and ice. Please listen to our conserns so we has a community can form a solution for our kids.
