the council just announced the plan to completely rebuild the skate park after all this pressure. i am honestly blown away that we actually pulled this off and cant wait to see the new park once its finished. thanks for hanging in there with me while we pushed for this.

Currently the Lismore Skate Park is in a derelict state and known by locals as a “death trap”. Rough and cracked bitumen “cheese grater” surfaces, gaps in transitions and broken outdated ramps characterise the current condition of the Lismore Skate Park. The park is dangerous and poorly suited to most skate disciplines.
Young skaters in Lismore are in need of an accessible, safe and modern skate park on which to hone their skills.
We propose the Lismore Skate Park be re-designed and developed using a consultation process with Lismore skaters, scooter riders, roller skaters and community members. Some suggestions from the Lismore skate community are to have a smooth concrete bowl, strategically placed ramps and spines to enhance the safety and quality of experience at the Lismore skate park.

Lismore seriously lacks places for teenagers to go. Please fix the skatepark, I have 2teenage sons who go there regularly & it's in terrible condition-some1's gonna end up hurt. It's also outdated. I wholeheartedly support this petition & am asking any1 who cares about keeping our kids safe,healthy & out of trouble to support it as well. Thankyou
give the skaters somewhere to go that they are proud of and maybe it will reduce the amount of skaters choosing to go street. Don't let this become the next lake pool!!
When I was a teenager the then fresh Lismore skate park was the cool place to hang on a wknd - we'd hustle a parent to drop us there and we were entertained all day, please fix it up so kids can enjoy it again and have something to encourage them to be active and awesome
The first Skatepark in the northern rivers, the only vert ramp around for over 100km's. This park should be upgraded to be one of the best parks in NSW. Have said for years if the council had of dismantled the old Nimbin steel ramps & demolished the old park & joined them up it would be one of the best parks in Australia.
It would be so good to have a smooth, safe park to ride at. Small towns need safe spaces for young people to get outdoors and express themselves. A safer skate park will entice more families to get their young kids skating, and advance the skating of more experienced skaters. This could only benefit the community
My friend doesn't enjoy many things anymore, skating is one of the things he seems to still love. So I'd be very sad to see him lose it.

I have seen people use this skatepark and stacked it because of the damages. People have broken bones and having to get surgery as a result. The skatepark needs to improved to avoid these kinds of accidents.
