We have always been the "Dowagiac Chieftains" and I believe it was Joe Winchester who faught help us keep the name we just had change the image to a more realistic image . Dowagiac has well earned the right to our name on anything!! We are the "DOWAGIAC CHIEFTAINS"

This is absolutely ridiculous. I want to see where in the school board policies it states that the band cannot have their name on the trailer. If there is no policy, then I want to know who approved the exterior design and did not consult with the director. That program and that trailer has been a symbol of the Chieftain Marching Band for DECADES. Take it to the school board!

That is correct, but someone higher up wouldn’t allow the band to spend their fundraiser money on the purchase of a new trailer. That is when they decided to use part of that to rehab the inside of the current trailer and use grant money to cover the cost of the exterior. The band never knew that using that grant money came with strings.

The school tried to do this when the band association raised funds and purchased the John Deere Gator. They tried to make it so it could be used by the athletic dept and the maintenance dept. Luckily the band moms put their foot down and said no.
