Fix Reading's Large Volume Gas Leaks!

I have definitely smelled gas from time to time on Echo Ave by the end of our driveway.

Aside from the health and environmental issues, this is just another example of companies, while providing a service to the community, doing the least amount of prevention possible because it would effect their bottom line $. The only way to hold companies responsible is to put regulations in place that make them accountable. In addition to fixing anything that common sense dictates should be fixed,, there should be better regulations in place to prevent these issues in the first place.

It is outrageous that there are 131 gas leaks in my town alone.

To the person who made this comment, we want to let you know that google maps places pins on homes, but the designated leaks are not actually in buildings, they are on public streets. Also, this map represents a snapshot in time, using data submitted at the end of 2018. That leak may have been fixed by now, and National Grid is required to fix any hazardous leaks within 24 hours. Having said that, If you smell gas, you should call 911 and the National Grid Emergency line: 800-233-5325. Let's fix those gas pipes now before we have another Andover, North Andover blow out!

There is a gas leak in our house according to the map. SCARY!

There's a strong odor of gas at the corner of South & Main Streets near Calareso's.

We smell gas everyday outside the house.

This is very frightening.

The horror, fear, expense and “inconvience” of the Lawrence/Andover leaks/ explosions are still so memorable, makes for immediate attention to be taken any HINT of gas leaks in our town. If leaks have been “identified” and still “unrepaired” in our location seems criminal to me. I am a National Grid customer. Had no idea how bad the situation is in Reading.

There is a constant gas odor along this portion of Main Street.

Gas leaks are highly prevalent throughout our town. The town must stand up firmly national grid and make them accountable. Hopefully this petition will facilitate this

All reasonable measures should be taken to understand the magnitude of the problem. National Grid has an inherent conflict of interest which can be eliminated by using an independent auditor.

A utility may consider a gas leak to be a nonemergency, but a gas leak can't be considered "safe."

We need to make sure the gas leaks are repaired for the safety of our community and preservation of our planet. That starts by holding the gas companies accountable here in reading and Massachusetts.

Little gas leaks turn into big ones and are potentially dangerous. Plus a waste of nonrenewable fossil fuels

We can no longer sit back and entrust the health and safety of our community and planet to National Grid.

I support Reading and it's effort to find out how extensive the gas leak problem is in our town.
