Fix Our Parking!

living in LB without a parking space is hell, esp after a long day at work. It took me years to move into LB & after 1 year and no park space, I am not happy :( I love everything but living in a very parking impacted area.

The parking only gets worse!

Create a parking district and stop backing huge apartment/condo buildings in the 2nd district with only one parking space. Watch the Current fail due to lack of parking.

We need better parking. Everyone please sign this petition.

Please stop building high rises there is no parking

The city should designate more one-way streets to accommodate for more front-in parking spots. This problem is only going to get worse. Perhaps we can turn Ocean Blvd into a one lane highway either way to get those front-in parking spots. Or maybe the city can create a neighborhood parking structure? Whatever the solution is, they better do it promptly because I am on the verge of moving out solely because of the parking situation.

The City targets and preys on lower income areas aggressively with parking tickets. Often, there are absolutely zero parking spaces anywhere realistically close to home (never thought I'd ever be excited to find a parking space four blocks away from where I need to go but that is often the case now.). The City are leeches on society who we are forced to pay the wages of. They are a gang of extortionists.

I just moved here and already notice that there are about 30 or 40 spaces (in the few blocks surrounding my place on E. 2nd and Falcon) that seem arbitrarily painted red. Whole stretches of unused curb space around Bixby Park and driveways with adequate room to squeeze in another slot. GET RID OF THESE RED ZONES!!!

I've lived in this area for over 25 years and have seen the parking situation deteriorate steadily. This isn't a new issue, and I don't think it's an accident that new developments are approved with inadequate parking. I suspect someone is on the take.

When you live on Ocean Blvd. and invite guests over in the afternoon & for dinner, it means they have to run down to feed their meters. Very unfriendly of the City of Long Beach to have parking meters in residential area operating until 9 pm.

No more new multi-residential construction without adequate new parking construction. We are fighting over parking spots like rats. Hire a professional consultant.

The most frustrating situation is having to drive for over an hour trying to find parking. It's enough to drive someone crazy. Most of the time my husband and I park illegally and risk getting a ticket. Ridiculous.

City officials have ignored the growing parking problems in this city for years. This has got to stop.

The parking mess was done by career politicians in long beach that allowed it to happen. Vote them all out and start anew The only thing that will happen after years of unregulated zoning ( ie houses next to apt buildings next to commercial storefronts next to industrial all in a few blocks) is to have permit parking. People pay to have permit to park in areas at nite. City of long beach keeps the current situation the way it is since it earns hundreds of thousands of dollars in parking fees for those that leave cars on streets during street sweeping days. It balances out the city fund. Again vote all the politicians out during the next election cycle and start fresh.

We LOVE living in Alamitos Beach... but the parking seems get worse and worse. Our lot on Appleton has five apartments (7 drivers) and only two small garage spaces. Sometimes it takes me 45 minutes to an hour or more to find parking. Sometimes I have to park a mile away. Walking that distance doesn't always feel safe late at night. I hope something can be done to provide low cost, accessible parking...

I moved to LB at the beginning of the year. Found a spot on 1st st, HAD no idea of the parking nightmare. Sadly, I'm all too aware now. I will move once my lease expires!

I am concerned about the parking situation downtown and in Alamitos Beach.

the parking issue in the area need to be addressed as soon as possible. We hear sad stories about people get hurt and quarrels because of the lack of parking space. Please take action to serve our residents. Thanks.

The parking situation gets worse every year, and the City only adds to the problem. The bike lanes installed in the East Village Arts District are a joke. Those huge clunky medians were added and THEY WIPED OUT MANY, MANY PARKING SPACES. And how many people riding bikes do you see in those lanes? Exactly. WHAT KIND OF SOLUTION IS THAT in the MOST PARKING-IMPACTED AREA OF LONG BEACH? Why couldn't they have painted bike lanes on the street like they just did on Alamitos Blvd.? ROBERT GARCIA, WHERE ARE YOU? And it gets better! The lot at Ocean & Alamitos just disappears one day in honor of a real estate development deal called the CURRENT, a 17-story view-blocking unaffordable residential/retail building whose website does not even mention parking. WHO DECIDED THAT WAS IN OUR BEST INTERESTS? But the absolute worst is all the GRATUITOUS RED CURBING AROUND TOWN that isn't even fire lanes. Surely there are better ways to raise money for the City than by legalized extortion (i.e. parking tickets). I've actually had to park next to the Bluff and sleep in my CAR after going in circles for almost an hour and giving up hope. How crazy is that. To his everlasting credit, ERIC GRAY is the ONLY CANDIDATE WHO EVEN MENTIONED FIXING THE PARKING PROBLEM. Do I sound angry? Darn right I'm angry. I've paid over $800 in parking tickets since I moved here. And the Police want residents to vote for more officers -- REALLY?? So we can be given even more tickets?? Why not protect & serve the community that supports you by removing ALL THOSE FAKE RED FIRE LANES.

Have to move ASAP. parking is too terrible. Especially with all the events (grand prix, pride, etc)
