I've lived in Alamitos Beach for 21 years & there has always been a problem. It's great that visitors love to come down for our beach, but they park on the streets instead of the parking lot & take away from the people who live here, pay taxes here, vote here. It's not unusual to spend 20-45 minutes looking for parking.

I've lived in the east village for nearly 6 years. Have paid thousands of dollars in parking tickets and fees for having my car towed because of getting too many tickets for me to afford to pay off.
I pay my property taxes and have the right to park my vehicle on the streets my taxes help pay for without being aggressively ticketed.
I don't understand why Linden has all day free parking with an 1 hour window for street sweep twice a week while all east / west streets and some north south have 2 hour parking limits, meters, and 4 hour street sweeping periods 2 times a week.
It's nearly impossible to find parking on Tuesdays and Wednesday's and the street aren't even clean. If you're going to issue $50 tickets for being in the way of street sweepers then the streets better be spotless.

Parking is getting to be so difficult. I live on Ocean and 2nd place and it sometimes takes me a half hour to find parking if I get home after 6pm.

Fix the parking situation. I live on Chestnut and 5th that is part of the Willmore District adjacent to DTLB. There is never any parking. People dont move their cars, so for people that work it is extremely difficult to come home after 5pm and not find anything for blocks, circling and driving around for 30 minutes. There is too much red curb, and too much parallel parking and motorcycles taking up car spaces. There should be less red curb, head first parking, alternative parking space for motorcycles. Even permits that make it so only those residents can park there. and additional parking lots owned by the city that allow local residents to park in heavily impacted areas. Willmore district is one of those impacted areas.

Its pretty sad when you base weather or not you are going to go out or not, because you are worried about being able to find parking that isnt several blocks away when you come home. plus you have street sweeping times that are not morning parking friendly.

There's not a parking problem. There's a 'too many people' problem. The city is tearing down homes and putting up condos everywhere. Every legal residence should be required to have a two parking spaces, minimum. A three bedroom unit, condo, or house should be required to have 3.

LB resident monthly parking passes that allow LB residents to park on any city street, beaches, parks and recreational facilities. Thee is no equality with these high priced parking meters while other streets have none

I live on first and orange. I moved from San Diego and had no idea about the parking issue. I don't get home from work until after 7pm and generally can only find a legal parking spot once a week after spending twenty minutes searching every night. Something has to change. It's inhumane

There simply isn't enough parking in the Alamitos Beach area! I plan my activities depending on whether or not there will be parking available when I get home and there is never parking after about 4pm. I work nights mostly so I have had to buy Beach parking for $450. Please help!

Why not use parking permits for residents like other high-population beach communities?
Why did we lose at least 15-20 spots when they did those road "improvements" last year on Orange/Broadway/3rd/etc? They painted so much red after, along with the asinine way they did the parking lines along Orange, that at least that many spots were lost that were there and not red before.
Why don't they paint lines where they should, where people hog up two spaces with one car?
Why don't they limit and enforce where motorcycles can park?
What about the tons of handicapped parking that keeps increasing and taking up spaces, yet half the time there are no cars parked in them? Who monitors that anyway--I've seen "handicapped" people running to their cars.
Why did they make the senior center on Orange and 4th paid parking permits with terrible hours when it used to be free and better hours before? Why don't they make more deals with parking lots for businesses that are closed after-hours.
Nada. If anything, it's gotten worse since Suja campaigned on this issue and supposedly fixed it.

It's not uncommon for us to drive around for 30+ looking for parking. There is so much they can do but won't--because they're making too much money in parking tickets. A joke at our expense.
