This is outrageous! Whether the child was "arrested" or not someone had a serious lapse in judgement. The child as well as his family should receive a public apology from Dist 65 and the individual(s) invovled in that decision.

As a mother of a 3 year old already a part of district 65 at JEH, this occurrence is shocking and completely unacceptable. Our kids....ALL our kids....deserve better. I would like to see the district have a clear and unequivocal response denouncing this and making sure it never happens again!

Ridiculous, no child should have to go through this treatment.

Thank you for doing this! If our schools do not understand how to de-escalate a small child in elementary school without calling the police, we have a serious problem.

As a parent with a Black Kindergartener this scares me, infuriates me, and pushes me to demand stronger guidelines and policies surrounding this issue. No Mas! No More!

We need more compassion for students acting out. This is not compassion - this is creating more trauma.

There's a problem with adults who need to call in police to handle an emotional outburst from a 6 year old. Especially in an educational setting. Calls into question the qualifications of administration. They need to be replaced.

As a former Dawes, Chute, and ETHS parent, I find the thought that the price were called in a kindergartener abhorrent.

There should be CPI trained staff in every school who are able to manage these kinds of incidents. Staff need to be properly trained in collaborative problem solving and de-escalating these situations.

Bringing police officers in our schools to discipline any child is traumatizing on various levels. Our children are not criminals and should not be treated as such. The school system should have plenty of adequate adults such as teachers, counselors and social workers to deal with a child who is experiencing an emotional meltdown. Stop calling the police on our children!
