Improve Arlington County Tennis Courts Now

Keeping courts in good condition is a safety consideration same as keeping ball fields and playgrounds in safe condition.

Bluemont courts need major help. Someone who knows what they are doing. They have cracks that were merely filled w paint! Did not work!

I enjoy playing tennis in Arlington, both the Quincy and Bluemont courts are in need of rebuilding. Quincy should be a high priority they are in rough shape.

Having nice public tennis courts is one of the reasons I live in Arlington. Let's keep it that way.

Please review the condition of the Old Glebe and Bluemont courts "repaired" last year. Their condition is already worse than before the patch-repair. A terrible waste of money.

Bluemont and Quincy are two of the largest and most popular public tennis facilities in Arlington, so they deserve maintenance commensurate with their importance to Arlington tennis players. The current system of crack patching deteriorates within just a few months, allowing serious surface faults to reemerge and endanger players. Proper resurfacing deserves additional consideration as part of the current CIP process.

Reconstruction of the courts at Quincy and Bluemont is a critical, near-term requirement. It is not so much a recreation issue as a safety issue.

Last year's repairs at Bluemont were a waste of money. Gullies and cracks re-appeared within a week! The lights of one court at Bluemont haven't been working for at least the last 2 months. Quincy's full of cracks, one of them has been nicknamed San Andreas, and the lights are inadequate. Both locations need to be fully gutted and redone. Towers is really good -great lighting, surface, and the nets are in good condition. As a result, they are always crowded.

It would be greatly appreciated if the county public courts are fixed. Let's keep Arlington's reputation as a "tennis friendly" county.

The courts are a great contributor to improved wellness among Arlington residents of all ages and should be kept in good shape.

Consider hiring a firm that focuses on building tennis courts. They will/should last much longer if developed well.

I totally agrees. Some courts need major resurfacing. I would also like to see more courts, especially in Rosslyn.

The Marcey Road Courts need power-washing at least once a year. They never get it. The court surfaces are very dirty and slippery. This needs to be put in the budget. I am sure other courts need similar care.

Love the accessibility of the Arlington Tennis Courts. Would like cracks to be repaired on a regular basis. Thank you!

For many years my family and I have greatly enjoyed the availability of the Arlington County tennis courts and we still do. It would be a great loss if they weren't maintained or even available. Eva VANDENBOS

I am President of the Glebe Ladies Tennis Club - an organization of around 75 women who have been playing on (and paying for) Arlington County Courts for over 35 years. Some are unsafe and others are in bad shape. Last year's patching at Bluemont was unsatisfactory, leaving ankle twisting and falling hazards. Courts are also used by our high schools for PE and tennis teams, eg., TJ and Quincy which are two of the worst. Facilities must be maintained in safe, usable conditions for all users.

A vast number of the County's tennis courts are in appalling condition. Not only do the multitude of cracks & gullies on courts affect the quality of our games, but they pose safey hazards as well. While playing, I fell when i became unbalanced & my foot turned over in the deep gully on a Bluemont court. I have witnessed other players who have fallen too. I hope the County will understand that the sport of tennis requires a smooth level surface!

I do not understand why Arlington repairs its courts periodically and cracks re-appear almost immediately. Can we not fix the courts once and for all.

One of the pleasures or Arlington are its wonderful tennis courts....let's save them and keep them.
