Over the past 13 months, research and science have shown us what activities can safely resume - with appropriate precautions - during the COVID-19 crisis. Additionally, school has proven to be a place with very low risk of transmission. In the past few months, more than 20 Nassau County school districts, plus countless districts in Suffolk, have brought their secondary students back for 5 days of in-person instruction - with much success and few problems. It is time for Plainview-Old Bethpage to do the same (with remote options still available for families who have health concerns or are not comfortable), and put an end to the academic, social, and emotional damage that hybrid learning models have on so many of our children.

No need for remote instruction. It was proven months ago that the spread of covid was not taking place in school and using an excuse of remote learning will not work. Our children are losing out by not being in school full time. If grammar school kids can be in school full time and not spread covid, no reason middle and high school kids can’t be in school full time!

It’s time! This educator for over 20 years says kids need to be back in school. When my child is home his camera is off and he is doing other things and not learning. In my discussions with other parents, this problem is rampant. It must stop. Kids need to be in school in front of a teacher learning actively. The district can do a great job of keeping everyone safe as has been done all year. Let’s roll!

It’s hard being home - I’m a 10th grader and doing well but it’s difficult not being in.

Let's have the 7-12 kids go back to school 5xwk. That is more structured and more conducive to learning. It is unfortunate that other districts have gone 5xwk and we are lagging behind.

Many schools are safely bringing students back with less than 6’ of distance and minimal quarantines. Students need to be back in school 5x a week.

Our kids need to be in school full time for their overall well being. Too many children are clinically depressed and online education works better for adults than children
