First Musician to Perform At Red Rocks Needs to Be Inducted Into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame
Pietro Satriano was the first musician to perform at the Red Rocks and he was also the musical director at Elitch Gardens for about 20 years. He has never been inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame or the Red Rocks Hall of Fame. He was the first performer at Red Rocks on May 31, 1906. The City of Denver has had more than 100 years to induct him and they have chosen not to do so. Honoring historical musicians and acknowledging contributions that Italian-American people have made is important!

Seeing the count climb toward one hundred names is honestly overwhelming to me. This response is entirely your doing and it proves how much Pietro Satriano still means to our community. If everyone reading this finds just one other person who respects our local history we could hit that goal before the day is out.

How is this even a question? The guy was the first one there. He basically started it all at Red Rocks and he gets nothing? Fix this.
Seriously? The nitty gritty dirt band gets in but they ignore the guy who started it all in 1906. Makes no sense to me.
This Colorado native wants Satriano inducted for his contribution to the most beautiful music venue ever!!
My grandpa always talked about the old elitch gardens music. It is about time someone recognizes this history properly.
It is prejudicial against Italian people to not induct him. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band but not Pietro Satriano? Who are the people making the decisions?
Why ever not, or are the prejudices still prevalent today???

Hi Paul, I agree; I do think it has to do think there is some prejudice against Italians still at play; however, I also think many people do not like classical music, and Colorado does not honor its past or its history the way many other states do. Please write back to me!
