This petition has been created for all University of Wisconsin Men's Hockey Fans, Alumni, and Boosters to collectively voice our displeasure and strong desire for UW's Athletic Administration to remove Mike Eaves from his head coaching duties.
This petition is not in reaction to the Badgers horrific season, the worst since 1932-33, or the fact they have been close to last all season of the 59 Men’s Division I hockey teams in USCHO’s Ratings Percentage Index at time of submission. This petition is a result of Mike Eaves inability to consistently win over his 13 years and the realization that our storied program has become an embarrassment to the university, and the laughing stock of college hockey.
This petition is the chance for EVERYONE in the Badger community to sign their name on the dotted line, and enable your voice to be heard by the UW Athletic Department leadership. Please forward this to anyone and everyone you think wants to take the required first step to once again see a sold out Kohl Center, have banners raised on a consistent manner and produce a Badger Men’s Hockey program that’s’ admired by players and fans globally.
In addition to any comments, please leave your location, and standing with the school, if you have such. (i.e. Alumni, Booster, Ex-Booster, Season Ticket Holder, Ex-Season Ticket Holder, Fan, etc.)
If you are on the fence or believe Mike Eaves deserves more time an article by Andy Johnson recently published at http://www.buckys5thquarter.com/2014/11/28/7274049/wisconsin-hockey-mike-eaves provides fruits for thought.

The Athletic Department keeps ignoring our program in shambles but they can no longer pretend this disaster is acceptable. This surge proves the Badger community is finished watching Mike Eaves turn our history into a punchline. We are gaining real momentum and the administration needs to start sweating.

His inability to recruit stand-out athletes especially in his own state cannot be overlooked. Missing on soon-to-be early round draft picks is a sign of waning respect. The lack of player development from a skill standpoint just isn't there on a consistent enough basis. Teams don't win championships early in the season, but they certainly can lose them and all too often in recent seasons UW has gotten off to slow starts. Mostly, the Badgers and the Greatful Red should be embarrassed about being ranked nearly dead last in the pairwise ratings. Something needs to change.
Season ticket holder in my family for over 40 years. This is the worst I have seen it. Eaves may be a good coach to get players NHL ready...but he is a horrible college coach. He has run the program into the ice. Almost as bad is Alvarez doesn't care. As long as his money machine of the football team keeps it rolling in, he will put every other sport to the side and leave it alone. It's a Sad Day for Hockey in Wisconsin.
It's shameful for Badger hockey to be this bad with the tradition, history and facilities they offer. In addition, the lack of consistency from one season to the next indicates poor coaching. If Badger football or basketball was so inconsistent from one season to the next, and they started this poorly, Alvarez would find a new coach. Why put up with this pathetic excuse of coaching for hockey?
It's time for a change. Attendance has been consistently decreasing for several years. Coach Eaves has poorly hired assistant coaches and he should be held accountable. The only reason he has survived this long is because of the 2006 championship.
In addition, get new assistant coaches. The two assistant coaches are learning on the job. Eaves is responsible for hiring weak assistants, and ultimately the downfall of the program is his responsibility. Let me put it this way, Nebraska-Omaha has a better coaching staff than Wisconsin. Wisconsin, with its tradition and facilities should be to mens hockey what Alabama is to football.
The program has completely list direction. Time for a change
It is going to take a long time to dig out of this disaster - embarrassed to be associated with this program.

As an alumnus from the glory days who has journeyed back to Madison and followed the team to places like Boston and Manchester, NH, I am dismayed by just how far this franchise has fallen in recent years. I have nothing against Mike Eaves personally - when I have interacted with him he has been pleasant - but it is time for a change. For his sake and the team's. And where is Barry in all of this?!,?
