Fire Harvey Price

I believe Mr. Harris was at the boat ramp the day that Harvey Price went over the falls on me He is indeed lucky the State police are not investigating him....... Hmmmmm. Maybe they are

I had a run in with Harvey at the town boat ramp. I just moved my jet ski to the right of the ramp to be courteous to other boaters. Harvey was out of control angry. I almost called the STATE police. I am not saying fire him, but he is in immediate need of anger management counseling that can be documented (not bye his so called friend (town Manager paraschak) If Mr. Price refuses treatment then termination proceedings should go forward.

I have been a resident in the town of Naples now for 30 years. This past fourth of July i decided to take my two grandkids to the town beach.I was standing up by the restrooms when I heard yelling down by the docks, it was Harvey Price yelling at somebody who had pulled up at the dock. Not sure what the problem was but he was the only one that was yelling. Is this the friendly town of Naples??

If the job of rec director is to give the children the best athletic advantages & preparation for Jr high & high school sports that Naples has to offer, then why is the town gymnasium difficult to access ? Why when the high school basketball coach offered the elementary teams time in their gym,did our rec director forbid it? Why were the elementary teams forbidden to even meet on winter weekends to unofficially play together with a coach present, in the capacity of a parent, on their own time, under threat of team suspension? Why does Brighton have regular gymnasium hours open to Naples children & Naples not? Why after years of dwindling coaches & players did so many families opt to play ball for the Caso travel team? Why did our rec director interfere in people's choice to play travel and not play rec, knowing they did not want to participate in programs that he runs anymore? Doesn't forcing people to do something they do not want to do, by exploiting your power, fit the definition of bullying? Isn't it the rec directors job to also provide safety during rec sports? How is it safe for 4th grade tykes to play a rough, contact sport like football, with 6th graders who significantly outsize & out weigh them? How does it help our football players excel to lump little kids with big kid & not allow them to have age appropriate teams competing against other towns like in every other sport? How does Lake Region Jr high & high school football stack up to other communities? Who paid for the Naples town beach dock? Was it the tax payers? Where are they? If the tax payers paid for them was their a vote to remove them? Did anyone get a refund? If anyone wants to have fun, the Bridgton town beach has a great raft for kids to play on & jump off & you won't have the police called on you unless you commit an actual crime.

Finally someone takes the stand, this man knows how I am and my children are, when the docks where in at the beach, and my boy jumped off them, sure the signs say no jumping, Harvey decides to scream at my son for jumping off the dock, and everyone there was staring at my son, when he knew I was his dad, instead of him coming to me and saying "hey mind telling your boy not to jump from the docks" no he had to make an example out of my boy and it made me mad, I had a few choice words for Harvey and he called the CCSO on me..

It's time for a change.

My interactions with Harvey have been consistently negative over the past 4-5 + years. I see many folks talking about his poor social skills as they pertain to the kids -I have mostly seen decent behavior from him around the kids but around the adults/parents Etc his bullying behavior is totally unacceptable in his position and just generally speaking in everyday life. He is on a power trip and it needs to end. Thanks SUZI for speaking up for all of the community.

Laura - There hasn't been a single comment questioning his work-ethic... However, both you and Harvey seem to have the priorities of the job backwards... People are not trying to hold themselves above the rules - people are trying to involve their children and being turned away. June deadlines for fall activities, strictly online registrations, not allowing kids to sign up even when spots are available, lack of response to calls and emails - it's things like that that are, at best, frustrating, but at worst, potentially discriminatory. I challenge you to call any other local rec department and see if they are such hardline a-holes on deadlines... (Btw the deadlines are arbitrary based on Harvey's agenda)... See how many other towns do not allow parents to walk in the office to sign kids up. Furthermore, "wonderful" men don't have a track record of calling the police on blind dog-walkers and frustrated mothers with small children in tow. "Wonderful" men don't continually ignore requests for additional activities until his own child reaches that age and then creates the programs. "Wonderful" men don't have petitions signed by over 250 residents of their small community that include stories with these consistent themes of harsh behavior, exclusion, and bullying... The number of parents this man has offended, coaches who have quit, tax-payers who have been kicked off public property, people who he's called the cops on, and MOST importantly children he has excluded from activities for trivial reasons, is absolutely beyond explanation. Maybe these community members, whom he SERVES, and who pay his salary, can forgive him, but they should only if their concerns are heard, apologies are given, priorities are rearranged, and changes are made.

First of all, some of these comments are truly sickening and so many of you should feel ashamed of yourselves. I have worked for Harvey for 5 years now and he is one of the most hardworking people I have ever met. The fact that he can come in and put a smile on so many kiddos faces in addition to the amount of work and hours this man puts in on a regular basis is commendable and inspiring. If I achieve half of the work ethic and dedication to his job he has in my adult life I will feel successful. The majority of the comments I have read complain because they are held up to the rules and regulations that are expected of everyone. Those with those complaints apparently feel that they are above those rules and regulations and should be given special treatment and are throwing a childish pity party because they are not being treated like they are above the rules. What is the point in having deadlines, rules, etc if they are not to be enforced? I'm sure the majority of you are good people but a lot of these complaints should really be looked at through another perspective. If your child had a project due at 10am and were told that anything turned in later would not be accepted and then turned in a great product at 10:01- would you think they were being mistreated for getting a zero? I certainly hope not because that is teaching a child responsibility. You are adults. I'm sure you all have a lot going on- family, work, hobbies etc. I sympathize that it's hard to keep track of things sometimes but realize you only have your one family to worry about. Harvey's job has a vastly larger scope to deal with and he isn't responsible for catering to your busy lives. If he was absolutely nothing would get done in this town. Best of luck to you all but Harvey is a wonderful man who I admire and he has my full support. I hope that you all can see beyond yourselves and look at the bigger picture. -Laura Rand

I practice a dicipline called rope dart. I had been practicing at the legion for about ten months until Harvey decided to tell me I wasn't allowed to practice there. When I continued to do so he threatened to call the police. He then lied to me and told me that the legion owns none of the parking lot and that I was now banned from the property (including the town water supply I asked specifically). I had to go to his boss to fix this. He has harassed me since as well. Never dealt with someone who is less reasonable or more rude.

Greetings all - a few updates: 1. The Naples Town Manager, Ephrem Paraschak has NOT agreed to meet with us as a group, rather individually. I encourage you to reach out to Ephrem to set up a meeting. My recommendation is email, as he often is not reachable by phone and does not return voicemail messages. His email is: [email protected]. I do not feel this opportunity should be limited to Naples residents, as the Rec Football Program serves Bridgton, Casco, Naples and Sebago children and our children all play together in other sports and may have experienced or witnessed discrimination or abuse of power. 2. The Naples Board of Selectpersons is Meeting this coming Monday night, September 19th at 7pm at the Naples Town Office. It is an opportunity to communicate to all 5 Selectpersons, as well as our Town Manager as a group. Adults and children who have concerns should take this opportunity to tastefully and truthfully express these concerns to this team of folks who serve this town and community. 3. And the hits just keep on coming... my kids' dad and I have been divorced for 8 years. My bills are not his responsibility. When our kids' dad gave Harvey his credit card to apply the $70 football registration fee, Harvey also took it upon himself to charge the bogus red bill of $202 to his card. My kids' dad had no idea until I told him (after a representative of the Bridgton News told me). He actually had to check his statement to be sure because he was so confident that he had not been charged the $202. Low and behold, the charge was there. We have since requested that the Town of Naples refund this charge to his credit card - I am not certain if my boys will be denied access to the football program based upon this request. However I find it incomprehensible that the town was discussing thresholds for property tax collection at the last Town Meeting (the prevailing theme was not to bother collecting personal property tax below $1,000). To clarify, because we want to hear all points of view, is Harvey's treatment of the kids, townspeople and tourists unfair, and the negligence of the Town Manager to acknowledge and take corrective action unfair... or do feel a petition (that we were told we would need to initiate) to collect a body of evidence substantial enough for the Naples town government to finally listen to us and consider action? This is unfair

Greetings all. Please keep all content factual and truth-based. Inappropriate comments are not helpful, they are hurtful and can be used to question the credibility of this petition. We all have enough truthful accounts of bullying, discrimination and abuse of power to establish a substantial body of evidence to present to the town and town representatives. Please withhold the inappropriate, off-topic and personally hurtful comments. Also, Ephrem Paraschack, the Naples Town Manager has agreed to meet with us and hear our concerns. I am trying to select a time that will work for the majority of folks. We have been dismissed for long enough. You all deserve to be heard and your all deserve a seat at the table. More to come. Fire this power trip jerk!

I hear you loud and clear, Ric Robinson. And normally I would agree, were it not for the fact that I've received so many emails from members of the community who want to express their concern and dissatisfaction, but are too afraid to because the fear that Harvey will take it out on them or their children by not letting the parent coach or not employing the child in Summer Rec or by mistreating their child on the field or court. That in and of itself is a sign of a problem. Thank you again for taking part in this petition and expressing your view-it is very important that the Board of Selectpersons hear all side to provide fair and equal consideration of the matter. I moved here roughly two years ago and the first of my children have started school. Seeing how the town handles these matters is definitely making me leary of staying here and participating in town events. Regardless of whether or not this is perceived as a 'mob', they should still address people's concerns and work accordingly to assure that the town doesn't feel this way.

Thank you very much for sharing your perspective, Ric and I'm very glad that your interactions with Harvey have been positive. I did want you to know that many of us attempted to resolve this independently by communicating first with Harvey and then with Harvey's manager and our Town Manager, but received no response and did not see any improvement. As a next step, we were informed that we would need to start a petition for this to get any attention. So I drafted this petition to bring to the Board of Directors (which I have done) to present a larger body of evidence, because our individual complaints were not acknowledged.

As I read these comments and see people posting anonymous. Grow up and be an adult. Have some courage and identify yourself. Anonymous comments mean nothing other than you can't own up to what you're saying. Ric Robinson
