Absolutely. But the government also needs to recognise other conditions that affect development and behaviour. My son has 22q 11.2 deletion syndrome and has some behaviours similar to autism.

It is heart-wrenching for my family to have such an incredible and intelligent child in our family and not have the support from our government to give him what he needs to succeed in life. We need change and we need it fast.

Here's hoping this becomes reality. There are so many autistic and aspergian kids slipping through the gaps of our school system because they are not catered for and supported enough in mainstream schools.

To see these poor kids put into mainstream schools is so unfair. They can't do it. But it's also not fair on the other kids who are have there class interrupted by special needs kids. There needs to be more done!
