Resident of 98070.
The orders the ferry workers have been given are disgraceful from every standpoint. Sending non-full boats on journeys is wasteful in fuel, in the time of riders left off the boat, and in the time and energy of ferry workers dealing with complaints that would never occur were they allowed to fill the boats before sending them off.

It is an environmental crime to send those boats partially filled. The 1st measure of ferry efficiency should be "% filled", 2nd should be "schedule". Most of the time F-V-S route can do both.
The few times they can't, the excuse of "not wanting to cancel a boat" is a moot point when the boat is already late, and leaves 25% full with 75% left on the dock so they can get "back on schedule". If filling the boat was a priority then getting back on schedule would be as simple as filling boats until the schedule came around again.
I'd like to be able to say, "the ferry was late again, but we all got on" rather than "the ferry was on time, but they left me on the dock and didn't have to".
I do NOT support more boats, I do NOT support the PO boat, I do NOT support any of the increased convenience issues that drive more people to our island. I DO support FULL boats and decreased waste.

This is not an employee problem, but a problem with implementing a poor system with a worse system. If the current solution does not fix a perceived problem, one should try another solution until the problem is solved. Our voices are often dismissed because "we don't know the whole situation or all the facts", but I have yet to see how leaving with partially filled boats makes anyone happy. It is time to think outside the box. Listen to the employees who actually work with the problems and try their solutions

WSF is a public service operation run by a government entity. We pay taxes to the state that help support WSF as well as high fares for the "privilege" of using the ferry system. The ferries are Vashon's only way on and off the island. It is incumbent upon the state and its ferry service to provide efficient, reasonably priced service to all who use the system.

I walked on that boat and could not believe it left less than 1/2 full. There were people in line for over 3 hours. No other boat in site and the next boat was a Southworth only boat. They should have put every car on this boat that they possibly could. Outrageous....
Where is the common sense.

This newest ferry insult of a 2 boat schedule for labor day weekend plus 2 weeks is incredible! Vashon needs a voice, not a purple paper on the dash, nor a receipt at the booth each time. This is a ridiculous waste of paper and expense to make members of a failing bureaucracy feel self-justified.

Please be sane! The service right now is infuriating and completely nonsensical- crews do not know what they are doing, there is lots of space left between cars even when they 'fill' the boat and we residents suffer.

Moving cars on the ferry is the NUMBER ONE priority; WSF needs to find a way to increase thru-put past the ticket booths and to expedite pre-ticketed drivers. The current system being used is a ridiculous abomination; are the WSF managers REALLY this dense, to not be able to figure this out??

Use common sense and fill ferry up. Primary goal should be moving cars not keeping schedules (that are rarely on time anyway, we are used to that)
