WSF should be ashamed of themselves that they have a such an inefficient loading system at Fauntleroy that boats leave half full when there is a lineup of cars on Fauntleroy Way waiting to get on. Use the ticket booths for selling tickets, not scanning passes. Have a separate line for pre-ticketed passengers. You’re smart people - figure out a solution.

The Vashon Fauntleroy ferry has reached the point that it is impacting commuting families and island businesses. There are many problems but #1 problem is requiring every car to stop at the toll booth even if you already gave a ticket. The lines on Fauntleroy St are Long Long Long but the ferries are leaving half full.

This started happening last year when WSF stopped using handheld scanners for prepaid tickets. The situation is getting worse. It is a waste of tax payer dollars and has created a safety issue by backing up lines on Fauntleroy Way for an exceptional distance. It also creates a lot of air pollution with all these cars backed up, inching along in line. The system wasn't great before, but at least it was faster at filling the boats.

often ferry leaves cars on dock, even if boat has room, people want to get home, forget about the schedule.

My Dearest WSF - Fill OUR boats. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY to fix YOUR ineffective ticketing and scanning procedures. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for vehicles as soon as they arrive in line, regardless of how far up Fauntleroy the line extends. Fill OUR boats. Thanks so much! Doug Drape 98070

I have been a Washington State ferry rider since 1961. First from Bainbridge and now for the last 45 years from Vashon. I have experienced a steady decline in service and affordability and have fears that my property value and my quality of life will become irretrievably damaged if service continues to deteriorate, especialy as tolls increase. There must be a better way to tend to the transportation needs of Islanders in the Puget Sound and beyond.
Please put some honest and thoughtful effort into creating solutions.
Respectfully,
Liz Brenneman
