Creative writing is so important. For me, it was one of the few subjects I excelled in and allowed me to express myself! Creative writing develops the imagination!

I wouldn't be where I am today in my writing if it weren't for my creative writing unit in 4th grade, and that prompt that started it all.

Creative Writing quite literally saved me. When you have 3 AP classes to worry about thinking about how a vampire romance, or a thriller in Paris works, it really makes a difference. Creative Writing may not give you college credit, but it will help you stay sane. Any Honors student knows how hard it is to keep yourself from falling apart. Keep creative writing, and keep our minds from creating a virus.

The fact that creative writing is slowly getting pulled out of schools is absolutely terrifying.

The human brain is hardwired to learn from story. It is woven into our very existence as a species as a vessel for history, culture, morals & ethics, and appreciation of language and beauty. To ignore and remove it, cuts off our voices, and hobbles the educational process.

Creative Writing is a way to express ourselves. Don't let that get taken away. It's a precious thing. When we write creatively, we can say pretty much whatever we want to. The founders of this country fought to give us the freedom of speech, which includes Creative Writing. Don't let go of any of it.

Creative writing is healthy therapy. In a state where suicide rates are ever increasing in teens, we especially need these types of creative outlets where children can safely express themselves. As a YA author I have had the opportunity to present at schools in Utah, but it is sad to say that the number of schools who respond to the queries of my publisher is very small. One school asked me to come but said it had to be during lunch hour because they had no time in their Language Arts class to devote to Creative Writing and the school did not have a Creative Writing class available to students at all. I was impressed by the number of students who attended and truly wanted an opportunity to learn and share their work. Thank you for doing this! We NEED creative writing in Utah schools!

Creative Writing shouldn't receive this treatment! It's a form of art that some kids need in their lives, but don't realize it.

If the board is going to get rid of creative writing, why not get rid of argumentative and informative as well?

Creative writing gives us a way to not only express our ideas, but also to develop ourselves and become better. Limiting this is limiting imagination, and I'm proud to have signed this

Creative writing was one of my favourite classes in my school career. I was overjoyed to be able to have a writing break between math and AP assignments and still have it count for school.

I love creative writing. It is a way to express how I feel with a creative spin on it. I can create a modified version of myself or a new character altogether. I am able to show my skills, but still be slightly hidden behind the pages. Not to mention, creative wring helps me on standardized tests as well. The time I spend looking for better words to make my stories more alive, pays off when I need to elaborate on a subject for school. Creative writing matters!
Creative writing helps people find their voice.
