I used this art shop through my whole degree without it I would of been stuck. Such a stupid idea to get rid of it... do they not realise the arts are extremely important without them we wouldn’t have much

I have been advised by an ex union rep that it may be illegal for the university to make 2 members of staff redundant and then give the jobs to cheaper workers. It would only be legal to make these staff redundant if the art shop was being bought out, but even then they would have their rights and redundancy may still not be on the table. If you are concerned that the arts shop staff may be made redundant you should contact ACAS who may get involved for you. I really hope this helps. Too many people are not aware of their employment rights.

As the Wedgwood institute tells us ‘Science with Art reads nature’s book.’ This is wisdom that the university should heed.

The staff there now are greatly valued by me and a lot of my colleagues. I will go elsewhere without them.

Invaluable to (NOT only A&D) students for as long as I can remember (only 36 years) at (North) Staffs.

We need professional people to run our art shop. We've already lost a book shop - something all Universities need - how can we still claim to represent what our students need if we get rid of all the support.

Having an art shop close to campus is absolutely needed for the students that are on art related courses( of which there are many in this university) and this shop is more than perfect! Not only does it supply students with quality products but the staff is extremely helpful!

This art shop, along with the expertise of Jo and Jim enabled me to complete my degree! It’s Outrageous to even think of removing it!

Studying at Staffs uni as an art student I've always found Jo and Jim very helpful, would be a shame for today's students not to have that help from them and not being able to purchase or order any medium from campus.

We need shops like this and Jo and Jim to run it. I was given so much help and advice during my Fine Art degree by Jo and Jim, it was a major part of learning about arts materials and techniques. They actually take an interest in what you are doing and understand what you are talking about which is essential when you are trying to achieve a given result. Please keep the shop open and Jo and Jim as staff members.

They do a great job and it is disgusting to try to replace them.

Staffs Alumni here. The Art Shop is an incredible resource for students and the wonderful people that staff it are a major part of that resource. To get rid of them would be a crying shame and an absolute disservice to the students that you are supposed to be supporting.

Great shop. Great prices. Studying graphic design I use this art shop frequently - for my sketchbooks etc. Would be a shame to loose it.

Choking courses, causing students to stress > Actually realising a good course will attract more students
