Fight the ban against flowers on memorial benches!

Ridiculous!

Disgraceful! Have some respect and compassion.

People should be allowed to place flowers..its disgusting DDC would stop this!

Awfully sad... it is lovely to walk along and see these memorials and pay respect even in people are unknow... they are local and part of the community I was born and have grown up in.

Disgusting. My mother in law has great pride and comfort putting flowers on her husband's bench. The public also enjoy seeing the display there. Without that there will be an emptiness there. Absolutely no need for this.

Health and safety gone mad!!

We have a memorial bench on the seafront for my father with two well maintained and beautiful flower vases attached It infuriates me that this Has been put in place, DDC are a bloody joke

Such a ridiculous and sad situation. There are far more important things for the council to intervene on!

I think it absolutely ridiculous to deem this matter an health and safety issue. If the council could come up with a similar petition with name of all the people who want them taken down then maybe it would be worth a debate. In the mean leave these people alone to deal with their grief in any way that helps them. I sad society we have created.

How stupid I think it's lovely seeing them look so nice

Keep with the flowers on the bench. People can't always get to the crem in barham so they put flowers on their loved ones bench

This is PC gone mad

We are regular visitors to this area as we own a caravan in Upper Walmer. We find these memorials neither offensive or untidy. It is comforting to know that some of these people are still remembered in such a way.

I have never heard anything so rediculous this is PC gone mad, people pay for these benches to be put there what harm or danger can a few flowers be to anybody. Is Dover council going to dig up all the flower beds then Dover is a desperate looking place as it is will look even more depressing if they have their way utter stupidity get a grip the powers that be.

I walk along walmer front at least 3 times a day with my dog,the Flowers are very beautiful,plus lovely to see trinkets left often by grandchildren, When walking I often see bottles,cans barbecue stuff,plus dog dirt not picked up by dog owners. Many people who walk this stretch of Walmer,spend time picking up,mess left behind. Making rules concerning benchers plus planning to install pay machines in car park along this stretch ,will stop the community who in general keep this stretch clean. Let's start looking after our town instead of councillors making up silly rules on the basis of health and safety .

OFFS. More important things to worry about and also spending OUR money on. Grow up.

I simply do not understand how the council has reached this decision. I revel in observing the floral tributes as I walk the promenade. I cannot fathom how this is a Health and Safety issue and finally, haven't the council got more important work to be managing?
