I think we should be able to pay respects and remember our loves ones in any way we wish on benches that as a family we pay for and have to upkeep. However I do think that cable ties should not be used string is a much better idea.

Would never believe I would be signing a petition to state that flowers can't be put on loved ones benches due to H&S reasons but here we are!!

People should be allowed to leave flowers. You can have them inside and be safe, so why not outside. Please everybody sign this.

Disgusting. If the flowers etc are being cared for by the relatives, what difference does it make to DDC.

With so much evil going on in the world surely it is everyone's responsibility to do as much good as possible, these benches are a lasting memorial for the towns loved ones so why cause more pain by taking their rights away from paying their respects

Please stop these ridiculous plans to remove flowers from benches paid for by the bereaved in memory of loved ones. There is no good reason which can support people no being allowed to do this and anyone who has complained is a time waster.

Yet another example of the genuine concept of health and safety being abused by petty bureaucrats just because they want to exert some power. Ridiculous.

Please note if you remove flowers from my brothers bench I will consider it as an act of theft and will pursue DDC in court. p.s. You should be ashamed of yourselves !

I think it's really touching to see the benches with flowers etc on them, when you walk along the seafront. Nobody really cares if the flowers are a little wilted! Surely there are more important things for the council to worry about!

Nothing nicer than to walk on the sea front and sit on the benches. And see the flowers families have put there for there love ones
