Restrictions yes total bans no! Come on ddc. Get real. Benches are in memory of a loved one and tributes will be made. Clear guidelines stating guidance ie. back mounted vases flower holders.you guys dont seem to be making thought out choices this year. Not good!

Do the council do these things just to hack people off? H&S my a***. You can find a lot more H&S issues the council should be addressing if you have a walk around with your eyes half closed.

Disgraceful, if flowers are a health and safety risk why do they plant them everywhere! It's NATURE for God's sake!

An bsolute disgrace the charge to have a bench is bad enough it to then refuse flowers etc as health and safety surely the powers that be should be putting their time to better use!!! Flabbergasted

I can't believe the council want to ban flowers and ornaments on memorial benches. If they are kept tidy there are no health and safety issues and they look so lovely. It's a nice tribute to the person named on the bench to put flowers there on anniversaries. I have never met anyone who doesn't like them or objects against them. Leave the people to do what they want within reason after all they have paid for the benches and their upkeep.

The most ridiculous thing I've heard, DDC needs to have a rethink! People get comfort from placing flowers etc on memorial benches,,,,

Health & Safety!!! A bunch of flowers on a bench!! You need to be concentrating on important issues!! If you're talking about H&S get someone permanently along the promenade catching people not cleaning up their dogs poo!!!!

Why don,t you ever listen to the people of Deal,????
You cannot put flowers on the bench ,but the weeds are allowed to grow through the benches ,so you cannot sit on one of them, and what has it got to do with the national trust???

It might not have come to this if the DDC had consulted with the owners of the memorial benches and reached a compromise.Such as one vase possibly plastic per bench
