Fight for Your Right to Buy Minimally Processed Pet Food

As a former feeder of RadCat who was put out of business by inappropriate and aggressive action on the part of government agencies I fully support this petition. The tolerance for a greater bacteria load in human food than in pet food is nuts. Pets are biologically built to handle a greater load than we are. Ironically the focus on raw is misplaced since there have been far more recalls and sickness from kibble.

Need to seriously regulate the kibble and canned pet food industry. Do the research on the digestive tracks of dogs and cats and stop taking our options away. They are NOT human! Your 'science' is not valid as far as raw pet food goes.

Leave our rights alone.

I feed Answers, and have been able to save more than 1 dog as a result. We have had dogs that, for whatever reason, CANNOT eat dry kibble. We have tried multiple brands, formulas, proteins, novel and hydrolyzed proteins etc. in dry kibble. Every time the result was the same. These dogs would have daily vomiting and diarrhea, weight loss, hair loss, and be plagued by joint and arthritis issues as well as chronic ear and skin infections. Putting them on Answers Detailed along with their fermented raw goat milk, fermented fish stock, and raw cow's milk kefir made a world of difference. The most important improvement was that the daily vomiting and diarrhea stopped. This not only provided more comfort to these dogs, but it also lowered their risk for extreme dehydration and allowed them to begin actually taking in nutrition. At 6 months on only Answers and RMB's (raw meaty bones), these dogs had gained a significant amount of weight, hair loss had stopped and their hair coats were fuller, skin lesions had healed up and skin was no longer chronically red and irritated, ears were clean and no longer chronically irritated, and they had more energy and appeared to be in less discomfort as compared to when they were exclusively on kibble. It's easy to make up these rules when these kinds of issues don't really affect YOU physically. But think of the dogs. Why would you force a dog that does so poorly on kibble and so well on raw to only eat kibble? Do you care at all about these dogs' quality of life, or is having control of an industry like this really the only thing that's important to you? Seriously think about what you're doing, and the dogs you're condemning to a life of sickness and discomfort.

To all the agencies involved. Quit harassing wonderful raw food companies. It’s obvious what you are trying to do. I have a right to feed my dogs a species appropriate diet.

As an educated consumer I want this option!

What right does the gov't or anyone have to tell us what to feed our pets?

Raw diet is the only option for animals with specific food allergies, and limiting those options would hurt many pets.

Consumers should have a choice in what to feed their pets.

We have a right to feed great minimally processed foods for our pets its the healthiest choice. Dont take this from us!

As an owner of three raw-fed pets, one of whom would have been put down without this major change in diet and curing his chronic IBS symptoms and constant pain/crying, I refuse to watch my right to choose what I feed my pets be taken away.

Feeding raw is no more unsafe than cooking meals for your family. Don’t tread on me!

We love how Answers has helped our dog to maintain a healthy weight and enjoy a starch-free diet. We must fight to retain our right to buy good food for our pets!

I am tired of seeing so many pets die due to the poisonous processed pet food.

Raw food saved my Belgian Malinois. Constant diarrhea the vet tried to fix with antibiotics and ‘special’ kibble which made it worse. Raw food has cured her problem. Raw is the best and what dogs were meant to eat.
