I feed raw to my 10yr old dog for two years now and it's the only thing to get him to lose his extra weight, and the difference I see in my dog is crazy , nobody believes me when I say he is 10

My last dog lived a nice long life on a raw food diet. As a puppy, she had many issues while on a kibble only diet. I tried many different brands. Wasn't until a holistic veterinarian suggested a raw food diet. This diet made such a big difference. Raw or freeze dried is the only way to feed our precious family member.

Pets are not human. Their bodies are designed to eat raw without issue and do much better on fresh food diets. I do not want to lose my ability to chose a healthier way of feeding my own pets.

The FDA and Dept of Agriculture have been quietly cracking down on raw foods. Their stated reasons for doing this contradict their own reported data. There are a couple important things to know about this that can affect you personally.
1) Raw foods, because of their short shelf life, support small local businesses in every way from sourcing to store front. This is the real reason lobbyists in the food industry need to make raw foods appear dangerous. Huge brand name companies can't make raw products for profit because their business models only work with shelf stable foods. This means that in a "vote with your dollar" economy, choosing raw or hand prepared foods is supporting a healthy local economy, and keeping your money out of the hands of corporate shareholders.
2) Almost any given pasteurized food has a really gross reason for needing pasteurization. That is the same reason that started pasteurization in the first place: factory farming. Whether it's fresh produce or animal products, mass production is a dirty dirty process. They have to lower standards of sourcing and production to make enough to meet demands for brand name foods. Pasteurization allows them to do this by killing off all the pathogens that should never have been present in the first place.
3) Traditional preparations for cooked foods increase their nutritional value. But the same foods made in a processing plant can be dangerous. A few good examples: Processed bread is made without any of the soaking, fermenting, or long bake times that break down the fungus feeding fibers. Also processed bread is preserved with bromines that harm your thyroid. Another example is fruit juice: Vitamin C breaks down with heat. So if your juice says it has Vitamin C in it it's been fortified with supplemental vitamin C which is made from mold, so it causes the exact allergy and cold symptoms it's supposed to fight. Canned foods are another great example: Traditional canning makes vegetables easier to digest

Our pets are just as important to us as our children, what we feed them is just as important as what we feed our children. We want to know what we are buying when we get food for them. We have been feeding a raw diet for for 30yrs to our pets. We will NOT buy processed kibble or canned food for them. If we are not able to buy commercial raw for them then we will buy them "people" food. When we feed raw we are trusting the companies to give us exactly what they say is in their food, which should be "real" food and not chemicals or waste, and NOT cooked. Leave the small independent businesses alone, they are the ones that care the most for those of us that are trying to get and keep our pets healthy. My dogs and those I have helped are proof the raw industry has helped more than processed "crap" kibble and canned foods. Don't take this away from us, PLEASE!

It is unlawful and not humanly right to take away our freedom of choice, especially for the well being of animals. Please look beyond the money to the bigger picture and do the right thing!
