You cannot take away my firearms if I am a law abiding citizen that is mentally stable and have valid reasons to protect myself and my family in this crime pestered country where the criminals attack us with police issued weapons, there will be a slaughter!!!!

I strongly object to the proposed amendments to the firearm regulations on the grounds that it is my civil and constitutional right to be able to protect myself and my family against the rampant crime in this country. A defenseless victim is an easy target for an illegally armed criminal. Disarming citizens will open the crime floodgates as there will be no deterrent against armed criminals. I cannot rely on the authorities for protection against the crime onslaught that is happeneing and which will worsen should law abiding citizens like myself be disarmed through the proposed amendments.

The major concern I have is the right to life of law-abiding citizens. Crime is escalating at an alarming rate, whereby the criminals perpetrating these crimes are becoming increasingly violent. Taking away a means to effectively defend oneself will see to an increase in violent crimes committed against all South Africans, this cannot be allowed to happen.
I want to express my dissatisfaction at this preposterous and uncalled for attack on my right to life, and the ability to protect myself against the crime infestation we all face on a daily basis.
