I am 83 years old and we cannot cross Broadway safely with the groups hanging out in the middle areas. I fully understand they need care, but real taking care would have them in
facilities which help them to heal and get training to better use their time and be trained for jobs. Also the nearby shops and seniors who used to spend time on the Broadway benches in the park median are badly affected by this. Also, when we
are again able to walk with our grandchildren on New York streets,
we won't be able to walk on the Upper West Side.
It is shameful for the City Council,
with the help of our UWS representatives, to be foisting this intolerable situation on all of us.

The city is ruining the one place we felt safe in to raise a family in Manhattan. We strongly suggest the shelters be relocated immediately before an even higher percentage of families do so outside of the state.

I’ve always been nice to the unfortunate homeless.
That have always been in the city. but lately they are not the same homeless that are decent. I get yelled at now when i don’t have cash to give them. I bought a woman milk and cereal she asked for them she threw it down and screamed , i realized she wasn’t mentally healthy.
They are drunk and mean, I do not leave the front of my building at night when i walk my dogs. I’m scared.

I run a building on 78th street and we have had to stop guys from breaking into cars on three different occasions. All I have on video surveillance. Drug users sleeping on sidewalks and using the street as there personal restroom. Yes we can say this is New York but 5-6 hundred is an overwhelming amount and this neighborhood and it’s residents/store owners deserve better.

FEMA is paying $175 per person per nite for them so Deblasio can save money. NYC is broke

I am sure that a safe rehabilitation center is better than a hotel where they can relapse easily.

Shameful behavior by the “new residents” of my neighborhood. The city needs to have a better solution for sheltering the homeless. This is a disgrace.
