This is an abomination for every tax payer with (and without) children! Every single elected official that allowed this to happen needs to be be removed from office ASAP!

Will UWS residents be able to walk safely up Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway to get to and support our neighborhood’s small businesses as before the lockdown? Will I, a woman barely five feet tall, be harassed and thus have my free access and rights denied? Will I be forced to return to shelter in place for my protection from these “interlopers” a term used by the civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton, which accurately describes this large influx of sex offenders and drug addicts?

The Mayor and politicians are more interested in protecting criminals than protecting the innocent law abiding tax paying citizens, i already moved my office out of NYC and am now looking to relocate my residence. moving drug addicts and sex offenders was the final assult. good by and good luck

Drug addicts don’t belong anywhere near young children and families. Move them out.

It is one thing to flee from NYC. Why are you almost dating us to flee the upper west side, much less New York. Read the room mr mayor. Don’t be dumb. Think of consequences of the populace, And the city. Not just the tax incentives of a hotel corporation

By placing almost 600 homeless/substance abusers and sex offenders in 3 hotels on the UWS you are contributing to the demise of a beautiful neighborhood. Please find other shelter for these men

Totally agree all people deserve a roof over their head and to be safe in these troubling times. And I do agree that it is the govt’s responsibility to help those who cannot help themselves. However, the community has its fair share of the homeless community. Fair share is legal criteria for determining placement of the homeless population. It is a criteria which has been overlooked time and time again with regards to the upper west side. And I feel this population being moved into the Lucerne is not a good fit for our neighborhood. And the manner in which this move happened makes me think our council woman and mayor agree. The community had no input. Has our council woman considered her constituents concerns? No. No she has not, and never has.

I’m a former Westsider now living on the East Side. But I go “back home” frequently and this is deplorable. The neighborhood was just barely nice and safe again and now this! As a senior as well I won’t feel safe while this situation is allowed to continue.
