In the quarter-century I have lived in the UWS, I have never felt unsafe walking around after dark.
Since the pandemic, I do. The Citizen App is a concrete barometer of the increased violence and crime visiting our neighborhood. It’s time to take back control and not let our great city devolve back to 1970s crime levels. This is unacceptable.

I have lived on the upper West Side for 55 years. The neighborhood has never looked so terrible. The homeless do need a place. They need supervised cares that gives them medical attention & social workers.you have just dumped a large population of unsupervised troubled people into neighborhoods creating yet a new problem.

I strongly demand safe and clean streets in our upper west side neighborhood for our kids and grandkids. This irresponsible action by the mayor and city council must be rectified immediately before someone is assaulted, raped or murdered.

I saw a homeless man walking down West End Ave in a bathrobe and slippers. I have never seen so many homeless people in our neighborhood. Two men live at the bottom of our building. We do not leave our apartment that often right now but our children walk to school and my daughter is afraid to walk alone. I do not leave my apartment after 7pm.

Is this really the best solution? How about some more thoughtful planning and consideration for the tax payers that live there.

This is our of hand, we need to figure this out. Why not all the midtown hotels that are empty where there are no residence. Or all the airport hotels?

There should be no registered sex offenders allowed in these hotels, there are children and schools right there.

My car was broken into twice in a month and a half. I was attached by a black lives member while sitting in my car a different time. I live on 89th street and no longer feel safe here!

Placing so many homeless sex offenders, alcohol and drug abusers is unacceptable.

We don’t want danger and fear in our beautiful neighborhood. Why men residents only? Why drug addicted people and why not poor families who might even try to find a job? Why????
