Bring the safe and clean UWS back for the residents. People are leaving because of these issues.

As all these people are brought to the UWS, their presence is palpable on the streets, and not in a good way. Why Why are we bringing in violent repeat offenders, sex offenders, etc? Yet we're criticized for not welcoming them with open arms after we have worked hard to be able to live in a good and expensive neighborhood. But it's going down fast, and it's not a coincidence that it's happening at the same time all of these hotels are being filled they way they are.

Please safety for our families, young children and schools!

The UWS is a highly populated area of families with children. The influx of homeless people’s with drug issues as well as sexual offenders is not acceptable. It’s not safe for the children/families

My friend was punched out on Bway/70th Street in October and nearly lost her eye. The criminal was caught, but let go by our "wonderful" mayor.

How much more can our kids take??? This virus, school, violent protesting.... and now not safe to walk on the sidewalks!!! Come on! You can do better than this!! Do you think it’s a good idea to have these people bussed in to an area where there are several schools???

What they’re doing here should be illegal. Helen Rosenthal should be ashamed of herself.

I was punched out of the blue in front of my apartment today. First time time this has happened in decades of living in the area. Police responded right away but they are being put in a very difficult situation.

I was inside for covid for 3 months and now in because it’s not safe with more people not wearing masks . And I’ll be living at home and going to college online !

I noticed a Cathy Bernstein signed the petition and she is running for Congress in our district. I looked at her platform and it addresses our safety issues. It’s worth looking into her and voting to make change if you like what you see. I did. https://bernsteinforcongress.com/

How is the world could something like this be happening to our beloved UWS neighborhood?? No wonder so many people are moving out. I’m extremely upset about this, especially with so many innocent elderly and children living steps away from these hotels. This will permanently RUIN the UWS that we’ve known and loved. I’ve been here since 1994 and just can’t take what I’m seeing these past few months! The neighborhood is being trashed. Please DO give these people the care they need and set them on the road to recovery! But DONT do it here in my neighborhood where they will be a danger to us! Please act now. With concern, Patricia D

I’m a mother and resident who has been active in community and proud to live in upper west side . But that has changed as I’ve had to called police to help stop homeless men in in a brutal fight . I’ve been barred from passing on sidewalk s , been cursed at and spit on.and accosted by panhandlers . I’m afraid to go out day or night ! More afraid than with covid ! My friends and neighbors report their own horrific experiences some too vile to mention . And a common element seems to be no masks . Oh also there are drug addicts nodding out all over with lit cigarettes! We pay to live in a neighborhood that we pay for and helped build , but find our selves surrounded by unmasked mentally ill, ex Cons or criminals , drug attacks and homeless doing what ever they want where ever . ( including walking naked and using sidewalks as toilets . My neighbor are moving to the burbs and others feel trapped here . We survived covid and sheltered ourselves inside yet woke up to a world that has been changed under our noses and behind our backs I feel threatened and worse cheated by our officials who are responsible ! .

In Speaker Johnson's district on W34th and around Penn Station it's the same - including public drug use. Bodies all over the street living in filthy and inhumane conditions. Shame on DHS - plenty of funding and no accountable program on how to address street homelessness including mental illness and addiction. Stepping over people is part of the landscape.
