Are our kids supposed to be walking through this everyday by themselves?

The upper west side has come long way. Please do not let it revert. I remember the conditions back in the 1960s,70s, and 80s.

It's going to take someone with the stones to clean up NYC again. Giuliani pissed a lot of people off, but he got the job done. The ultra-liberal agenda is in direct conflict with what it will take to clean things up.

Who thought it would be a good idea ? It makes absolutely no sense. You need to put these folks where they would feel more at home. Putting them in a neighborhood with privileged upper class people does not bode well at all

It used to be a safe neighborhood. There is no way that we would allow the homeless shelters to be placed nearby. It will put my kid and family in danger! No homeless shelters!

As much as I understand the need to help our fellow citizens, I don't understand how active drug users and sex offenders (obviously not all) can be moved into a residential neighborhood. This neighborhood is known to have many schools and that is the reason why many families with children live here. I believe it is not appropriate and puts all of us in possible danger. We will now need to avoid certain streets. Teenagers that usually walk alone will now be at risk of being in dangerous situations. This needs to be handled in a proper way. Thank you.

Some of them are sex offenders, drug addicts. It is not bearable that our kids have to be neighboring this large amount of homeless people. The potential risk and danger of arranging this shelter here is tremendous. Everyone needs a home and place to live, but 79th upper west side. Please move the shelter to some other places, where not many people and families are around.

I love the upper west side and am very upset about all these recent developments that are making our neighborhood unsafe again.

It’s bad enough we have a pandemic now we have to feel unsafe on the streets. I can’t even walk down 79th St. without having tons of homeless people crowding the streets no masks no social distancing.
