We demand safe and clean streets on the Upper West Side

let's move them out....the Mayor and his cronies are a disgrace.

Public & private pre-school, elementary, & middle school children and families are going to be starting the NYC 2020/2021 in the next two to three weeks. These students will be walking to these schools through the "blended" educations plan, and many of them will be in streets with these hotels within less than required minimum space & locations of shelter housing for these three hotels. We have experienced numerous events in these hotels & streets with our children/families while we are dealing with the pandemic, adding to the stress, danger and deep concern . Many of those shelter locations were originally housed at the West 50s, between Broadway and 8th Avenue, earlier this year, until those local residents complained about that area and suddenly those midtown hotels were emptied. Many of those men were moved to the Lucerne, the Hotel Belleclaire, & the Belnord. Back in the Upper West Side in the 1980s & early 1990s there were small locations for SROs and people who lived in small residents with social workers who support people with mental health and other issues. Then, the NYC eliminated all of these people who needed help, gave them some meds, and told them to come back for their next meds. Many people are leaving the Upper West Side - I see apartments working on moving vans/U-Hauls multiple times a day, and none of them are arriving, they are all leaving. There needs to be appropriate safety, support, and clear and specific solutions for everyone involved. This is not the effective directions and results for those who live here and those who were brought to leave here "temporarily" - all people involved need end results, before the schools open.

there are too many families in this neighborhood and kids who have resorted to hanging out in parks and public spaces due to covid-19. these homeless people are intimidating to children and often aren’t wearing masks

This was a destructive decision. Please reverse it for the sake of New York City's vitality!

Our westside neighborhood has rapidly changed and it is not safe. I was relieved to see Guardian Angels patrolling today, a further sign that things are not safe.

Safe streets!!

I feel frightened and unsafe walking in the neighborhood that I used to love. Men urinating in public, taking drugs , masturbating. Disgusting. This is not helping and treating the homeless. Its a dumping ground. Move them out!!!
