Housing sex offenders two blocks from an elementary school is illogical and unsafe.

There have been men from the Lucerne shelter smoking K2 on the bench outside my building. Who’s job is it to deal with this? Project renewal only has security outside of the hotel and on the two corners of their street. What about half a block over? I called the shelter to speak to this issue but it was unclear what action will be taken to curb the habits of nearly 300 people abusing mind altering substances.

I've been in this neighborhood since 1971. What I see on the UWS now is as bad--or worse--than in those years.

This was done without considering those home owners who've invested in property that will now lose value because of this move they had no say in.

I have lived on 79th for 70 years, 20 or so of those were dangerous enough to avoid entire blocks. It had become a beautiful safe family neighborhood. Why does the city want to go backwards?

It is a disgrace what has happened to our neighborhood. It is now unsafe and unpleasant. Fix this horrible mistake asap

A highly dense family neighborhood is no place for homeless shelters housing men with drug use/criminal past behavior. Provide them with necessary help, and consider other options for housing. Airport hotels, far from residential areas, are empty now and could use the funds. Same with smaller cities upstate.

Please institute proper vetting for shelter inhabitants to keep everyone safe. If newspaper reporters can do this, then city employees can do it.

Please consider less dense areas such as airport hotels or rural areas for these shelters. Communities need to have their voices heard before making a decision of this caliber.

With our children’s school being just few blocks away, we need to keep our community and area safe

We should creat a community police since our crazy mayor doesn’t allow the great men and women in blue do their job

There is no support for these people or the neighborhood they dumped them in. Totally done without any public process. Thought they could slip them in unnoticed. At a time when people are dealing with covid and unemployment and fighting for their livelihood to remain business owners in the neighborhood, the city has said we don’t care about you and added another nail to the coffin. It is a big FU to the upper westside. To move 3 hotels/500 people all men Many of whom are addicts and sex offenders is insane.
