We demand safe and clean streets on the Upper West Side

You were voted in to support the voters that supported you. Please fix this. If you want to make shelters, make them rehab shelters and with the consent of the neighborhood.

The residents of the UWS deserve to feel safe, particularly the children and women (there has been catcalling and lewd behavior since the arrival of the shelters). I urge you to not wait until someone has been assaulted, raped or killed before enacting change.

I recently ate outside to help support a local diner in our neighborhood. A street person came up to all of us selling a flower and asking for money. He wouldn’t leave and continued to interrupt diners, speaking loudly and sometimes angrily.With so much stress these days, these kinds of incidents which interfere which with just the desire to relax outside makes it increasingly difficult to live in this neighborhood. The children were clearly scared.

We worked hard over the last 30 years to build our community to a safe, wonderful place where people felt confident to bring up their families. We already have shelter-like places here on Broadway at the Euclid, and in the 80s. Enough!

just moved to uws because it's a good and safe neighborhood. paying a lot of money for that safety and realizing that it's not so safe anymore and I'm afraid to go outside at night! it's not what I signed up for!

These vulnerable populations need stable and more permanent housing from the city with resources that can appropriate address their needs. The streets (and hotels) of this community are no place to unload homeless populations.

Give back the UWS to the hard-working people who pay rent and deserve lots better. Move these homeless peoples near the airports where they would not be a nuisance and menace to local society. Provide them with real life survival skills i.e. basic job training.

Why is DeBlassio acting in such a wreckless fashion? He truly has no idea what he is doing thus causing irreparable damage to our beautiful neighborhood and city. Such a shame. Such a useless mayor.

I've lived on the UWS since 1985 when it was not safe and very gritty. I see us headed in that direction and am very concerned. We are compassionate but don't want to be a dumping ground - again. BTW, Helen Rosenthal's office has not answered my repeated requests for info on how many UES hotels are being used for the same purpose.

We need to make sure the community values with families is maintained for UWS. When security and safety is compromised for a family area, it becomes impossible to live in.

I have lived in the West 70's for 58 years and have always felt safe. I am now afraid to walk to and from food shopping and just sit in Riverside Park with so many homeless people .
