Our kids are feeling very unsafe in this once beloved neighborhood and frankly so do we. If this doesn't change before school starts we’re out.

Save our UWS neighborhood! Take the most criminal sheltered men out of the neighborhood and either give the rest of the newly sheltered population in local hotels, mandatory services for drug addiction and/ or mental illness or remove them from our streets. our safety is at risk and quality of life destroyed. I wrote something but I don’t see it posted, please let’s get our neighborhood back. This is disgusting and against our human rights and totally criminal. These dangerous mentally disturbed people need to be in a place where they get professional help, not in our neighborhood streets amongst our children, waiting to verbally insult, and offend and who knows physically hurt us or our children. This is completely insane!! This Ridiculous person who calls himself Mayor, is a disgrace to our Coty and a threat to our safety and livelihood. He should be made to step down from office immediately. No good has ever come from his time in office; the man needs to be an institution for the insane. Safety for our family is the number one thing why we as a family live in the upper west side. Is not safe and is not clean right now. Our park has so much garbage and the amount of aggressive homeless walking the streets are overwhelming. We demand action. We demand safe and clean streets in the UWS.

Disgusting, Human rights violations for the residents in that predicament, safe clean streets are basic human rights, mayor de blasio has ruined New York, looks like a downtrodden crime invested, rubbish tip, housing paedophiles not far from a Children's playground, is a disgrace! Children aren't even being protected, de blasio needs to resign! New York isn't a Family friendly city too visit at the moment, I encourage Families to give new York a miss for holidays, strongly suggest too take your business else where, where your money will be better spent and you'll be safe, until de blasio cleans up his act! Horrible what has happened to our neighborhood, garbage, needles everywhere

It’s enraging how the local politicians that are supposed to fight for, and protect, our community have managed to destroy it under cover of “COVID” in a matter of weeks to fulfill their own agendas. Since when is it a crime to want to walk around what was once a peaceful family-friendly neighborhood without feeling threatened or fear of being accosted, watching lewd - and illegal behaviors, people having sex, shooting up and worse, a crime??!! The politicians seem to have the wrong priorities. I want my neighborhood back, one which I worked long and hard and sacrificed a lot to achieve.

I just want to feel safe going about my daily life without being worried about becoming a victim. I am tired of being afraid, but being a senior makes me more vulnerable. I also worry about children who are terrified. Their childhood is being taken away from them.

Time for new leadership

In response to Anonymous urging us to not wait until someone has been assaulted, raped or killed before enacting change, I have first knowledge of what can happen when halfway homes, rehab centers, and homeless shelters exist in neighborhoods without people knowing about them and without the consent of the community. There is a halfway home located at 108 W 83rd Street across the street from PS9 of which I didn't not know anything about until my daughter was asked by a resident there to join him inside that he could show her what she could do with her legs. My daughter was traumatized by this encounter and is afraid to walk on that street. This incident took place on her first day to school, after we as a family had decided it was safe for her to walk to school by herself. A level 2 sex offender at the same address nearly killed a young woman walking her dog at 85th St and CPW during an attempted rape. He had been released from prison to that halfway home less than four months before that incident and this was his second arrest in 4 months. It is the law that residents should be informed when sex offenders move or are moved into your neighborhood. I didn't know about this sex offender having being placed only a block away from my home and neither did any one I talked to about the horrific attack against this young woman and the incident involving my daughter. The largest drug raid in the upper west side zip codes 10023 10024 10025 in the past ten years took place at that halfway house and it's neighboring building and I only found out about it in a local news letter. A homeless man with mental health problems killed his roommate at that halfway home with a kitchen knife early this year. I am not sure how many parents know that their children are going to school across the street where sex offenders are housed and are not in the registry and where drugs are being used and sold across the street from the playground where their children play and have lunch.
