This is unacceptable and unhealthy. Why not move them to midtown where it’s empty?

The current state of the upper west side is deplorable. Shane in you deblasio for ruining our neighborhood. Every family like mine will leave what was once a fantastic city and great place to raise kids and never return.

I was born and raised on the upper west side. My family still lives on 82nd and broadway and they have become too scared to leave the apt with what is currently going on with the crime and homeless drug addicts having taken over the neighborhood. Something needs to be done to keep the residents of the area safe and to keep everyone from moving out of this city and having it overtaken by derelicts. This is becoming a disaster and returning to the conditions when I grew in the area back in the 70s. Thank you.

6 men were loitering at 9 pm just outside the entrance. No sign of any security officer. "Residents' blocking the sidewalk and messing a round adjacent to Nice Matin's outdoor dining area. Nice Matin is already struggling and these incursions on it's outdoor space may put it out of business. No one will want to sit on the 79th St area.

I was accosted by homeless men twice within 10 minutes of walking on broadway yesterday (aug 6). A homeless and maskless man in Duane Reade verbally accosted me and would not social distance or put a mask on. He followed me after I left DR. Within moments a second homeless person unrelated to the first followed me to the corner and starting throwing bottles from the corner garbage can at me. I have lived on the UWS through the crack wars and I have never felt less safe than I do now.

It’s gonna get worse if something isn’t done. Not a good situation.

I do not like the fact that Im reading there are sex offenders placed in two locations that are 2 blocks away from each other. On top of that this is leaving PS87 vulnerable to predators.
What I have noticed is a disgusting amount of trash on Broadway. Masks on the floor, food and gloves. Then seeing men gather in large clusters without masks or social distancing. If they are recovering alcoholics or addicts, two liquor stores are across the street. They are waiting to get liquor. What I found interesting is that I went to get liquor for a recipe in the morning. Long story short. The liquor store was locked. The guy looked fluster. The security guards are a joke. They look at their phones all day.
I feel homeless women and children should have been moved into this area. This is a family orientated area.
Lastly the amount of weed smell on Broadway is ridiculous.
I do not feel its good that there are two populations of homeless short of each other. It should be more spread out. They are all hanging on Broadway in the middle area of crosswalks. You got one crazy guy there singing and shouting . The others hanging. Help them. Do workshops with them. Let them look for jobs. Get them hooked up to do better. What is sitting outside doing for them?

If you want to fill the hotels then station police to secure them from the dangers that are now happening on the UWS. Don't destroy our neighborhood... we need support & protection too.
