Walking to do an errand has become something I cannot do alone as a 24 year old women without being harassed. A man yelled at me for a whole street and got in my personal space and I had to change my route home. Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident in the Upper West Side now.

This situation is scary- I have a young daughter and just thank his she’s not yet old enough to be walking around the neighborhood on her own.

This has produced an I'll conceived, FEMA funded covert plan by our despicable mayor and his wife (whose best cronie has taken down NYCHA). It’s very dangerous on the UWS now. I live across from the Lucerne where a man was assaulted today, I have many times seen drug deals go down on 77th Street, a man full
In master bating in 82/Bway,?have been continuously bothered by the same three men in my block right across from Rodeph Shom, a violation of the distance allowance of a sex offender from a school! These men have hassled my 17 year old daughter in front of our apt building, loiter and harass. The streets are filthy and it’s reduce the value of my real estate. Another example of an”C” student mayor corrupting for no good reason in the name of easing “privilege”. He always does the wrong thing...the only certainty about him!

This is not about NIMBY nor is it about class-ism or racism .
(I volunteered weekly for a long time in a shelter and organized two benefits for the shelter, albeit this was in another decade. It's not a crime to be homeless. In fact, the reasons many end up homeless are frankly societal crimes pushing people there - another subject entirely. Virtually the majority of people in this country now are a couple of unfortunate financial situations away from homelessness of some sort to ending up in a shelter or the street.)
The point is this unconscionable decision was made:
1) With no notice to residents placing children (and adults) in harm's way of sex offenders, flagrant public drug use, aggressive panhandling, public masturbation, etc.
2) From apparent political motives, financial back-scratching - the usual from this current mayoral administration.
If anyone actually wanted to do right by the homeless people placed in these hotels AND the impacted residents where the hotels are- thought would have been given to re-locating people where they could get help for their issues and not create more issues for themselves by dangerous, criminal behavior in a densely packed neighborhood.
In my view, de Blasio is the Trump of our city - too many to enumerate (the I will never own a car mayor is driven around everywhere in his black SUV, including to his gym in Bklyn from Gracie Mansion at the outset of the pandemic) - but de Blasio seemingly does what is financially or otherwise expedient and beneficial to him, his constituents be damned.
So, residents of UWS, who contribute plenty in taxes are leaving in droves because it IS UNSAFE to live there - heck even leave their own buildings without being aggressively accosted.
I don't even live up there. But I DO walk up there every day for a long exercise walk - the only, real, formerly joy-bringing , daily out of my apt. activity.
There's so much difficulty that so many are facing, everywhere right now.

I need to cross broadway to get to the pediatricians office and no longer feel safe going by myself as I have to navigate with a baby through pockets of homeless and drug addicts

Have lived in UWS for 8 years and the neighborhood has completely deteriorated in a year. It is not right for law abiding, tax paying families to pay these absorbent expenses only to have their neighborhood turned unsafe bc of the whim of some bureaucrats.

It boggles the mind that such a large volume of such troubled individuals would be located in a family neighborhood already so densely populated, guesting many other homeless. Find more appropriate areas.

The violent people and drug dealers need to be removed from this area as I don’t feel safe walking in the area.
