I am a business owner and a resident on the Upper West Side. I am sad knowing that people have sever mental illness and are food insecure but this decision by the NYC government is completely unjust.

Placing hundreds of "recovering" drug addicts and sex offenders TOGETHER in the same hotel in an area with families with young children is not progressive. It's dangerous, naive and stupid. This is not a class or race matter. It's a practical matter.

Please save the UWS. I have lived here for 51 years when there were homeless shelters on 76, 81, 77 st. There were Murders, drugs and vagrants. It was dangerous
It has taken many years to get rid of them
I can’t believe that this is back!

Our tax dollars are better used rehabilitating people outside of a residential neighborhood.

I understand the needs of some of these folks and, with covid, the need to move them to safer places, but sex offenders? One block from a school? Are you freaking kidding me? I don’t think so. I’ve only lived on the UWS for a year and there’s a reason i chose this neighborhood. Now it seems like it’s turning into garbage. That said, the hotels are cleaning up at $350 a night. Thanks deBlasio. .

I am completely against the homeless shelters set up on the upper west side. It has created an unsafe environment for the families living in that neighborhood.

I lived on the Upper West Side for 20 years. It is horrible to think that the city would allow sex offenders in.

I am a single woman living in an unguarded building on 77th Street and I have lived here for the past 10 years. I do not feel comfortable walking down my own street at night. There are men lying on the street during the day-with no masks. And now there are 15 more registered sex offenders in one hotel. Please get them to a place where they can be better monitored and receive rehab. this is not safe.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 30 years and it’s taken a horrible turn for the worst. Just today I saw a man smoking crack on west 76th and another masturbating on a park bench. This is on top of the homeless sleeping on the street. Something has to be done.
