These people are not getting proper care. They are dumped into these hotels. Would you bring your kids to 79th and Broadway for a compassionate chat with them? Of course you wouldn’t. It’s dangerous.

This is a disgrace to place sex offenders, drug addicts and others with many currently exhibiting dagerous behavior which I have seen first hand. I live on the UWS and am appalled at what I am curently seeing as a sixty-five year old resident.
Shame on you....

We have had a very bad homeless problem with encampments on the UWS for years now. There is no effective plan to deal with this except warehousing more homeless in our hotels-many of whom are mentally ill men.

Instead of paying the hotel industry $175 a person per night, could the City possibly arrange some temporary housing at the Javits Center?

The UWS has become (overnight) a dirty and dangerous place to live and work. The city has failed it's residents.

UWS residents also deserve compassion! Wanting to keep our neighbors and children safe does not make us racists or a community without compassion!!!

I’m shocked at how many neighbors are leaving the city. The future of NYC depends and the small businesses that are its life blood depend on the decisions made now. Placing 600 homeless in hotels in a small area of the UWS will further deteriorate the NYC economy leading to even more homeless. BAD DECISION!!!

700 people who are "just socializing" in the streets? Not quite. 700 people who are asking for money; getting angry when you ignore them; doing their bathroom business in the streets; masturbating in the streets. And these are just the things I've witnessed. No one is monitoring them, so how is this helpful these people? It sure isn't helping our neighborhood.

79th Street and Broadway has homeless all over the benches- passing urine at night time in the planters......God forbid you have children in the car. On the South side of BWAY- one person has taken up residence there sleeping on the ground and standing half naked waving his arms at 5 and 6 PM. Now I am afraid for my safety.

No forethought was given to the location of the homeless men and women to the three hotels within a 10 block radius of each other. It seems it was more about money on the part of the hotel owners.
These men and women need around the clock supervision. Drug addicts and ‘recovering’ alcoholics do not belong in a residential neighborhood with close proximity to schools (and children), restaurants and drug stores.
The Belclaire Hotel is Home to level 3 sex offenders. Again living in close proximity to a school!
It has become quite obvious that are elected officials are not going to do anything to rectify this abhorrent situation. Just look at how Linda Rosenthal continues to change her response every time she is interview ed.
There are numerous hotels by the airports that are sitting empty and are located in a commercial area. Transfer the homeless there.

An ill-fated plan without regard to the
safety and security of the UWS !
