I’ve been harassed by a number of homeless people two of whom pushed me. I’ve seen them peeing and defecating on our streets. I’m fearful of going out

Outrageous that the city has permitted this situation on UWS!

The poor decision of the city to shove hundreds of drug addicts, sex offenders and mentally ill in the midst of women, children and elderly people is outrageous, professional malpractice and puts all of us at risk. This is a ticking bomb. The city must rectify immediately and distribute this groups equally across all zip codes, reducing the adverse impact and mitigating the risks.

As a permanent resident of one of these buildings I can attest that the fears and concerns of the community are well-founded. Active substance abuse, constant smoking- tobacco and others; brawls, verbal abuse and threats of physical violence. As well as not following the Coronavirus mandates or even the program curfew. The threat to our health and safety is real and your concerns are not without merit.

This has been our home for many years, we brought up our son here and have always loved saying that "the Upper West Side" is our home. Now, I dread it. It's dirty and filled with unfortunate people who have no regard for any kind of social norms, etc. Please, please, please clean up this neighborhood and help those people who need help desperately.

We want the NYC we all loved back! Not the hell hole it has become

This is a HIGHLY DANGEROUS situation for our neighborhood. As a Permanent Resident of the LUCERNE for over 30 years and Chairman of its Permanent Resident Tenant Association since 1994 , I can tell you just exactly all about the looming and realistic threat of violence (with CUST fights and screaming in the hallways at 3:00am, with the supposed security guards standing as bystanders. A number of them are actual graduates of the program itself. There are sex offenders in a hotel 2 blocks down one block from a school. NO MAGSND LAW NOTIFICATION OF WHAT ELEMENT WAS MOVING INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. There are 3 Permanent female Residents in this building and 2 female employees of the Lucerne, already proven verbal abuse including a death threat to my partner snd our dogs, yelled across the lobby of the Lucerne with numerous employees of Project Renewal present. They heard it. No one responded clients smoking in their NO SMOKING ROOMS, cigarettes, crack, crystal meth, including numerous security guards Smoking in the stairwells some high themselves. The hallways heavily filled with smoke hovering, coming from all the rooms looking like the building is on fire. This is a serious FIRE HAZARD with all these people actively using drugs and higher than kites. It’s not a matter of IF, but a matter WHEN that this building will hi up in flames. The is a real and dangerous and looming scenario here, not a projection. No one is abiding by the rules or any of their mandates including employees regarding any of the numerous flyers posted all over the building. No masks, gloves (which the signs Specifically say clearly), absolutely no social distancing, including the workers and almost all the patients as well as staff and security guards. Our tenants (11 of them) are all senior citizens from their 60’s into their 90’s with most having pre-existing respiratory issues. They were concerned about coved speeding in the east village overcrowded shelter so they moved 284 trans

This is an egregious violation of every tenant's right to peaceful enjoyment of their home.

Homeless on a street, spending money from taxes on hotels

It is an abomination that this happened without the residents of this neighborhood having any notice or say in the matter. The UWS is a quiet neighborhood with a lot of families with small children. We make the sacrifices necessary to pay the high cost of real estate here for peace of mind. Shame on you Mayor DiBlasio. There are so many other options in more commercial areas to do this and you continue to make bad decisions to the detriment of this city.
