Given the glaring lack of usable sports fields, we are forced to seek recreational services for our children outside the community in which we live. We play soccer in Redmond and are involved in many activities/camps and pay non-resident fees to the City of Kirkland. Our children absolutely love baseball. They are still young enough to be able to enjoy the athletic amenities that were promised to the residents of Kenmore. Our trust is with the council members who took their oath on our behalf and that the tax dollars generated by the growing home values of our community will be managed in the best interest of Kenmore residents and the children that reside in this growing city.

It’s for the kids!! It’s not like we’re talking about another giant apartment building or a strip mall. It’s for a couple ball fields for kids to play on. Shame on you, Kenmore city council.

I am really dismayed and angry as a parent and somebody that's lived in Kenmore for over 18 years. That the council just turned. I believe the vote was already rigged before that meeting ever took place. Looks like the Kenmore city council really doesn't care about the future of Kenmore, which is kids not the council members and definitely not the adults. You just let the kids down. If this puts a death knell in North Lake little league and it has to go away. I hope it haunts you for the rest of your lives. Especially you mr. Marshall your kid played in Northlake little league and you were the most vocal at games that I attended as a board member about the field situation and Kenmore shame on you. And shame on the other three. I will be doing everything in my power. To make sure that those four do not get voted back. I don't think you realized all the voting power that this little league has.

If you build it they will come. If you don't build it they will move away. That means lost tax dollars on top of the huge loss for child development through sports. Want to head off problems like gangs, drugs, gun violence and other activities that decrease Kenmore appeal? Invest in kids sports any chance you get!

We can’t rely on Bastyr fields as a long term solution. Currently we have two games there every night along with 10 teams practicing there during the week.

Kenmore needs to move forward. Follow bothells lead and stop pandering to low income and rare horny road frog. Real working people want a nice town. Not trailer parks and wet lands that can’t be used.

As a member of the community and a parent of a child who plays little league I request you reconsider and complete the study for the ball fields. Now more than ever children need safe places they can go and play ball, keeping them active and teaching them skills that will help them develop into good citizens. One of the reasons we live in Kenmore is the school district and the parks for our child. This is what draws families to our area.

Council Members:
Do your jobs and get Kenmore children a viable place to play organized sports. You took an oath to put families first, but instead you kowtow to self-serving environmental alarmists.
This anti-family bias will be remembered when it’s time for your re-election.
