Our youth sports programs should have the full attention of Hudson River Park management as the Barry Diller Island and the new idea of Rver Beach construction

Our children use both the field on the main group and field on the roof up to 4x a week. This space is essential to our children and family as it is one of the very few field we can easily access. Please keep these fields as part of development.

The sports and recreation fields downtown have been one of the most unifying elements in our neighborhood over the years. It brings us together and has created connections and friendships across neighborhood lines. Adding additional fields will only further those opportunities. The access to recreational and outdoor spaces downtown was not only good for the health of our community, it is also good for homeowners and landlords as it a big draw for families to move downtown.

Sports are imperative for raising healthy bodies and minds. But we need to provide the infrastructure for our children so they can play a sport that they are so passionate about.

As a recent arrival to New York, the community of players on public soccer fields has been instrumental for my integration into city life. The more sporting fields we can make available to our urban communities, the better it will be for the city we inhabit together.

Dear HRPT, CB2, and elected officials,
I am writing to you today as a parent of a downtown youth athlete. As the future of Pier 40 is in limbo and any restoration or redevelopment project of the pier is years away from completion, it is imperative that the programming of the Gansevoort Peninsula include a full sized field (75 x 120 yards) that can be covered with a bubble in the winter. The population of downtown Manhattan is ever increasing, downtown youth sports programs are at full capacity, and the existing fields at Pier 40 do not meet the demands. Gansevoort Peninsula is the last space within Hudson River Park that can accommodate a full sized field. Let’s not squander this opportunity, especially since the fields at Pier 40 will be closed either partially or fully during future renovations. The time is now to address this issue of lack of adequate field space in downtown Manhattan so that our kids and future generations can grow up healthy and active, playing the sports they love.
Thank you for your support.

I fully support the inclusion of at least 1 full sized soccer field, preferably also lined for small sided play, on the Gansevoort Peninsula. Soccer and other sports fields in Manhattan are very limited and subject to extreme competition for NYC Parks Dept. permits which severely restrict both organized and free play.

Please allow Dusc to obtain more fields To foster a community that reflects the diversity of New York City in which children can develop a lifelong love for the beautiful game and realize their full potential as both players and people.
