Finally it's about time someone does something about this. I don't think everyone should have to suffer for other parents being to lazy to attend to their child's lice problem. It needs to be felt with.

I too grew up going to Pleasant Hill and always had lice!
My mom (god bless her soul) use to volunteer and help get rid of children who had lice!
As parents we have to nip this in the bud before it becomes a huge mess!

We have a problem in our school because of a family who refuses to take care of the issue. I'm sick and tired of the notes, of lice in my house and this being a problem. It needs to stop!

As a parent of young children I can expect a note or two from my children's school. But getting over 6 lice notes within weeks of eachother is outrageous. It's all out town could talk about, the lice taking over our school.

I caught live last summer from my daughters bible camp. Let me tell you that it took over 14 days of diligent combing, washing bedding and by the time I treated myself and my daughter the cost was over $200. As a result I know am obsessive about using tea tree oil as a preventative in our daily shampoo. I also treat myself and my daughter the minute any note gets sent home from school even if we don't have it. Getting lice was a horrible awful experience. Kids should not be allowed to attend school when infected with lice!!!!

After 3 rounds in a 5 weeks for 2 kids for the second school year, I'm tired and frustrated! And speaking with the teachers is pointless. Changes need to be made so the families that care aren't the ones being penalized by missing school, work for parents, hours of sleep due to late night nit discoveries, money on repeated treatment purchases, hair cuts (especially for girls who had long hair and loved it!) to lessen the time for nit combing, and the embarrassment of having lice AGAIN. If lice is found, parents should be called to pick up their kids. Maybe that inconvenience will motivate others to get on top of this frustrating cycle...

My kids got lic like 4 times in 3 months but now I put hairspray and tea tree oil in every morning and they have not got lic thank god because it is a lot of money to get all the stuff you need to get it all gone

I find this ridiculous and absolutely disturbing that a rule has been changed to this. I have worked at a women's shelter and seen what sever cases of lice can do. With constant inch that leads to open sore which causes infections. U definitely have my vote!!!

Yes...omg yes. My poor daughter and I had to fight with it over and over and over, at least once or twice a month for an entire year! The treatments do not work well enough and no one knows you are supposed to sit there for hours with your kids head and pull all the eggs and nits out that the shampoo and things don't kill! I don't care what they said, the moment my daughter had the license I kept her home because I am not going to be party to spreading that nastiness!

I had my daughter in kindergarten have this 3 times! She has waist long hair so you can imagine the work each time.... it's infuriating that not all parents take the time to do what's necessary to erraticate the infestation properly.

I fully support this petition and shame on those parent's who don't make their child's scalp health a priority. In my opinion it is a form of child abuse to allow your child to remain untreated for headlice and the school system and child avocates need to step in.
Imagine yourself have BUGS crawling on your head for month's and some children years.
That being said we can NOT put other children at risk!!!!!!!!!!

YES! I live in fear of lice! And if a letter comes home, I generally keep MY child home, BECAUSE their fellow classmates are allowed to return with eggs and nits! Parents should HAVE to keep their children home until the lice are gone. Take care of it properly or home school your kids!

Fully agree! I grew up in a time where lice maybe went through the class once because we were not allowed to be at school with it. If too many kids are absent due to lice then they need to have the home situation evaluated, parents need to be responsible for their children and quit expecting everyone else to suffer and constantly treat their own child because another parent won't.
