Feeling Lousey? End Head Lice in School

It should be treated and the child checked before allowed back into school. As it's an expense for treatments for other parents who take the appropriate precautions. And is time consuming to constantly be checking there child and there belongings when returning home from school.

Something really needs to be done!!!!

Not just an inconvenience. What about parents that contact lice and have to lose time from work because employers don't want it at their business. Not to mention employers having to re schedule around missing employee

The current policies inplace are not working. As a parent this has been extreemly frustrateing, I could go on and on about how these disfunctional policies have effected my son and our family. Something has to be done. Podsibly this may become an issue when the teachers negotiate a new contract soon. One can only hope because no recommendations I have made have. So sad.

I offered to check my child's classroom for lice after my daughter has had it twice now (which seems like a minor thing after reading THIS story!). However, the teacher graciously declined because it's not allowed. Even if I checked them ALL in a non discriminatory way. The teacher however let me check HER head (as the kids filed in from recess...and we openly shared what I was doing for her). I wish I could do this for the class to at least help parents identify if their kids had signs of infestation...I agree that they should not miss school or be shamed in ANY way...

Please reinstate the rules to send these kids home.

I support this but only if there is proper care for those families who are unable to care for their families because of poverty or addictions or lack of education. Lice is common and very inconvenient but the families who repeatedly struggle with lice have larger underlying problems that need to be addressed. Free bottles of lice shampoo is only a bandaid fix.

I work for the school division and I am tired of doing lice checks. I was shocked to learn that we no longer send students home when live lice are found. The health board needs to see where the majority of students keep their coats and backpacks....in locker cubicles with up to four students per cubicle.

No place for lice in our homes or schools

The repercussions of having lice even once will last forever. The process of having and treating lice is horrible...The emotional and psychological effects remain well after the lice are gone in fear of getting it again

Things need to change!

This needs to change in schools and daycares (both public and private!)

This is NOT NORMAL SASK LICE, but due to the Refugees being brought in by Trudeau....SO IF ANYTHING PUBLIC SAFETY MINISTER RALPH GOODALE NEEDS TO ALSO BE ADDRESSED ON THIS....for OUR Saskatchewan Children!!!
